BRAVO WEEK continues (as well it should)
Today bravo shows us some anvil flinging by little Ling , and it re-raises the question usedbooks posed yesterday: How many Lings does an anvil weigh?
because, we know . . . The Duck Always Questions Twice

Ilove the character designs for these pages in particular, closest interpretations to the script I think :)

Clearly she's the 6th mythbuster. I want to see Vickie browbeat Jamie about the quantam dynamics of Anvils!

Strike! Obviously Max isn't a Dodger. He doesn't get out of the way of anything. (Go Dodgers!)

tangent: how is it that usedbooks hasn't been a major contributor to the soap. I mean - just Look at that!

It's super-adhesive gum. It held McDuff in place, allowing all the force from the anvil to be transferred directly to his cranium. Luckily, his brain is insulated by a thick layer of internal monologue.

...and when doing these calculations, don't forget the additional friction added by at least four wads of gum. Wait. As I typed that I realized that the gum is on MAXWELL'S feet. Dammit!

A standard anvil weighs between 100 and 500 pounds, depending on whether being used for shoing horses or working on railroad equipment. The standard Ling weighs between 40 and 90 pounds. So, if not for the forces of gravity and friction from Ling's quality sneakers (made in a sweatshop by Ling's younger sister), the force of the toss, sending the anvil approximately ten feet forward, would have knocked Ling backward 25 to 50 feet. Luckily Vavoom was there to help block some of the force, which was converted, through the friction of those mahogany pins, to heat energy, which ignited the entire city block. A crack team of firefighters extinguished the blaze before McDuff regained conciousness.

Gawd, Bravo has drawn Ling perfectly, You really do just want to squish that little bastard!

Ling flinging sounds like something naughty that Skreem would come up with... "Ooooo-errr Matron!"
bravo1102 at 5:26AM, May 11, 2012
That's why Ling only has four fingers... He's a Toon.

It's an Acme anvil. One has to use cartoon logic. Watch a Roadrunner cartoon. Things constantly defy the law of gravity and Ling has not studied law so he can fling an anvil around. He can also walk across chasms. McDuff is an adult and has studied law so like the Coyote these things affect him as we would expect and he's liable to fall into a chasm.
