Close Encounters (page 10)

An update - sooner than average! It would've been even sooner if it weren't for the overwhelming weariness I've been experiencing all last week. I was yawning away all day, every day. Woke up yawning and yawned till I put my weary head back on the pillow. I'd even doze off on the bus! And whenever I reached out to do something intellectually demanding, I'd cringe, freeze halfway and recline again, with a dull face :\ Same reason why I haven't caught up with my favorite comics yet! Sorry! :(
Aaanyway… What have we got here today? A splash page. Or should I say a *splat* page ;) It was originally supposed to be just a panel in the previous page - but at some point I realized I crammed waaaay too much text into a single panel. Tha totally ruined the pacing, giving too brief and too fast a description of what happened. So, I decided to make it a separate page, instead. Works way better that way. More space = better pacing = more drama. Plus, the picture required way too much work to just shrink it beyond recognition. Ok, so it's not perfect - but it doesn't stink, either. Pun intended ;)
And I waited over 11 years for a good opportunity to use the bone font! Love how dramatic it looks! But– what now? What happened to the poor little fool? Could this be– the– ? You'll have to wait and see! :) Not very long, hopefully - I got two weeks off, so I'll spend SOME of that time drawing.
Meanwhile, Merry Xmas everyone! :)

Merry Christmas Fitz old boy. A painful lesson (again) for out little friend. I do wish there were more artistically viable excuses to use the bone font. I know! Iâll make a skeleton character and he can talk in the bone font all the time. Who cares what he says as long as itâs bone font.

Ouch! Now that's not a nice Christmas present... to Mick, at least. To us... well, that's a different story :-D Merry Christmas, you Catholic Fundamentalist, you! ;-)

Ghostrunner: Thanks :) Krrack_Knut: Glad we agree! ;) The good thing about cartoon violence is that they usually get out with nothing more than a few bruises. The bad part is that the more band aids they are plastered with, the more it makes us laugh - rather than feel sorry for the characters. RoyceMarie: Ohhh this is a wholly different style of narrative - we're watching what's really happening, but the accompanying story is sort of a fairy-tale of a noble knight on a quest to save a princess. Hope that helps! A lovely lady mouse? Yes I have thought of that, too, a BUNCH of times - but we don't want to make things THAT easy for him, now do we? ;) Sooo I have something more wicked up my sleave >:) And yes, Christmas it is. After all, we ARE a Catholic country. Tantz: He probably will ;) A band aid, a few stitches here and there, and he'll be JUST fine, I guess :) Besides, Ryan was watching all the time - and laughing his ass off, I bet ;)

Great stuff! Love the bone font, too XD I hope he lives to tell his tale though. And Merry Christmas, or any other celebration you keep :)

Oh, I forgot. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. If you don't do the Holidays, have a Happy Whatever!

He didn't know she was taller? And a different species? Or am I confused and you are writing about something? Why can't he find a lovely little lady mouse. You know, Miss Bianca might not have married Bernard. (From the cute mice story called The Rescuers.
