Who's Murdering Miss Scarlet?: Page 12

And with one bound, Hugsley is free!
Well done skreem for correctly identifying the gatekeeper butterfly last time. An Awfully Decent Award goes to you in recognition of your lepidopteristic talents. Awards also to Kawaiidaigakusei for skillfully pitching the Latin name and to fallopiancrusader for suggesting the soundtrack to this update.
I'm going to make an actual award to give out, but first I have to create a valentine card for the Retro Valentine's Day Card Participatory Experience and so should you. Until next time, spread the love!

wtf where is the owner of this crazy dog
Ironscarf at 11:42AM, April 9, 2020
Irresponsible owners are the worst. He could probably make the perfect guide dog with the right training!
Ironscarf at 5:01AM, Feb. 17, 2015
@kawaiidaigakusei: You are too kind! I thought it would be nice to get more of the characters in. Working with such restrictions definitely helps you to focus on what's left and forces you to come up with things you might not have otherwise. I would recommend it to anyone. It doesn't even have to be orange!
Ironscarf at 4:54AM, Feb. 17, 2015
@banes: Thanks Banes! These tales of your youth are fascinating - I would love to read more. Have you considered writing about your Blorenge boyhood? It would be like that film How Green Was My Valley, except it would be more like, How Orange Was My Mountain?
kawaiidaigakusei at 12:59PM, Feb. 16, 2015
Wonderful new banner image! The former was wonderful as well, but this one shows more depth. I must commend you on your creativity with different hairstyles and colours when using a limited colour pallette.
Banes at 11:47AM, Feb. 16, 2015
This takes me back to my youth, when vicious dogs could be anywhere. I was never so heroic...it was a lot of running...or, if lucky, pedalling...away(I grew up in savage Blorenge). Lord, this is striking stuff! Beautiful multilayered backgrounds!

Tired of your Fluffy Yipper! Well now you can have a Drippy Glipper - just add water! So your niece deflected the corpulent terrier torpedo from it's collision course with a magnificent mid-air rugby tackle? I may have to rewrite some upcoming pages - this material is just too good. Happy Birthday Ayes!
ayesinback at 6:49PM, Feb. 10, 2015
Hahaha. The comments are almost as fun as the comic. Almost :) But see here, our fluffy yipper looks more like a flooded glipper now. As to dog bites, the closest I ever came to being attacked was by a fatty yipper. Apparently when sufficiently mocked, those rotund terriers can become surprisingly airborne as they assume the identity of a target-seeking missile. If my niece had not been so talented at grabbing the dog mid-projectile, I probably would not have such an affection for glipping yippers today. But she was, and I do.

@tupapayon: It's not legal to play with dogs? Yet there's no law that says dogs have to be on leads or anything, at least here in the uk. Just a vague rule about keeping them under control. I have to agree with you and say that especially since I had kids, I'm very wary of big dogs. It's a shame because it's mostly down to owners not understanding or properly looking after them. I was bitten as a kid, entirely down to the stupidity of the owner, but at least dog obedience was a big deal back then. Now nobody seems to care much.
Ironscarf at 4:22PM, Feb. 7, 2015
@KimLuster: I feel for you! I have to walk through a popular dog walkers spot a couple of times a day and more than once I've heard the dreaded words "don't worry, he's just being friendly!" only to turn around and see some poor old lady being dragged to the ground by some enormous hound called Tristram or similar. You definitely learn how not to look at a dog the wrong way, so I reserve all my disdainful looks for the feckless owners. Thankfully some people do know how to look after their dogs. For some reason, teenage girls seem to have their dogs under much better control than the adults!
tupapayon at 6:05AM, Feb. 7, 2015
Gotta comment again… because of my experiences, I'm cautios with big dogs (actually, anything bigger than a chihuahua is big to me), and when the owner says the beast is friendly I still don't trust right away… usually a dog warns before attacking (but there are some mean ones that won't)… if you take your big dog out in public it should be restrained or very well trained… I've played with full grown German shepherds, pitbull sand Doberman… but even domesticated ones are still beasts… I'm not a dog lover anymore (I was told what I was doing is not legal and the owners don't appreciate that)…
KimLuster at 1:03PM, Feb. 6, 2015
Yeah I see the evil thing on page 1! I don't trust German Shepherds... Was out for a Sunday Stroll once, came upon an individual with a Beautiful German Shepherd. "Friendliest dog in the world," he says, "never bitten anyone! You can pet him...". Thirty minutes later we're in the emergency room with and puncture wound. Nurse says, "Oh poor doggy!" We're wanting another nurse lol... She was obviously a dog lover and was worried we'd have the dog put down... She says when you're petting a dog you should always have your hand down a certain way so the dog won't feel threatened. I say Hell no to that - it's a human's world - dogs that don't defer to me shouldn't be in our world (public places)... I shouldn't have to learn special behavior rules to get along with dogs. I'm talking with reason - anybody that kicks a dog deserves what happens... but I shouldn't have to look at them the 'right way', etc... *Big breath* okay Rant over - great page!! And we allowed the dog to live!

@moizmad: We don't have rabies on the UK mainland - but maybe he could have babies? Then she could be chewed by Hellpups?
Ironscarf at 5:01PM, Feb. 5, 2015
@JustNoPoint: Hotties On Hellhounds? Now there's a missed opportunity if ever I heard one! Seriously though - somebody needs to make this.
moizmad at 2:02PM, Feb. 5, 2015
Even worse, Jawzer has rabies I'm thinking. Better get a shot woman! Guess we'll have to wait a few months to find out eh Parr?
JustNoPoint at 1:52PM, Feb. 5, 2015
Darn, and here I thought she would ride and tame the dog by the looks of the 1st panel! What orange blooded hottie wouldn't want to ride her very own hell hound?!
Ironscarf at 8:07AM, Feb. 5, 2015
I wise move. Flamin' Nora - Gordon Bennet was actually a name I toyed with for one of the characters in this!
Froggtreecomics at 7:29AM, Feb. 5, 2015
Gordon Bennet! I shall have to have a lie down now, before me fish n chips.
Ironscarf at 6:14AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@KimLuster: Much appreciated! I don't know what's up with this German Shepherd. If you flash forward in time to Page1 , he's there at the bottom, waiting to finish the job. If it's a pet you're looking for, you'd be better off with a fluffy yipper!
Ironscarf at 6:07AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@Genejoke: I'm glad you like 'em. I'll definitely keep this mid orange for flashback scenes and the like - makes a refreshing change.
Ironscarf at 6:06AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@plymayer: Exactly what Hugsley would've said, if he wasn't such a yipper.
Ironscarf at 6:04AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@tupapayon: Many thanks - I hope this didn't reawaken too many bad memories. I've only been bitten once. They told me he was just being friendly, then they came at me with a big syringe!
Ironscarf at 5:58AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@kawaiidaigakusei: Yes, it's not looking good for Miss Scarlet, not even in Latin. Glad to be of service: I'm drawing mine right now!
Ironscarf at 5:56AM, Feb. 5, 2015
@bravo1102 It's true, everything is so much more civilised in orange!
KimLuster at 4:00AM, Feb. 5, 2015
Fantastic! Love the violent action and all the detail! Love the monologue! Really great job!! What's the deal with this German Shepherd, just roamin' around attacking pretty girls and... yippy dogs?
