Check back a couple strips. Mixed with the brain seeking zombies, there are a set of Soul-Seeking zombies. They'd suck the souls through the eyes and mouth. Also, checking back a few strips, you'll get an explanation as why Nemi is more susceptible.

For Blade of Toshubi Readers that don't know, Those bracers can produce magickal shields... Tosh and I have been doing our best to make this story work without Blade of Toshubi fans getting too lost, or needing to read much of PSI to get some of it. I hope many are following just fine. Don't worry, I also can't wait for Toshubi to start doing his normal comic again ;) Rule of thumb: always expect a story to take longer than you original think it will... o_O
