@Darius: We can only hope that this is close to the answer. Being Bram's house, Vlad could have used this notebook for anything - ranging from cheating on his homework to using Bram's scent/psychic signature to summon a world-ending abomination.

I don't have questions. I have potential answers. Vlad's in Bram's house to return the book. He's on the ceiling because he was trying to sneak it into the house. He 'borrowed' it because he wanted to cheat on his own homework (for the next night, aka now tonight) with Bram's answers. He stayed on the ceiling because he can't be bothered getting down just to drop the book.
