Cultural Coversation

One show I was a fan of was Drawn Together…when it had first started. The idea for this comic had been sitting in a notebook probably for about a year or so before the show aired, albeit crude and imperfected. I thought Drawn Together was going to be fairly smart with its jokes regarding the literal differences between cartoon styles, but when I think back I don't remember a single joke about cartoon specific features. Let me explain, In the comic I can explore a whole range of stereotypes not based on “race” as we see them in our world, but the differences between characters. As a show like Drawn Together would mock asians being poor drivers, or having slanted eyes. Mako, would be mocked for his people having unusually large eyes, driving giant robots to work, and tentacle rape.

Drawn Together's big problem was trying way too hard to be Southpark, pretty much leaving us with a generally unfunny, and really disgusting cartoon with an interesting premise. I pretty much stopped watching at the end of season one, to much disgusting stuff going on…but thats just my opinion.
