Interesting fact: The burning feeling after eating a pepper is caused by capsaicine. It stimulates the nerve endings that transmit signals of pain and heat to the brain. It doesn't cause any physical damage to skin tissue, though.

Another little backstory: As you know, I came up with some of these characters as long as 18 years ago. The Red Pepper looked completely different and was supposed to be the main character in what I planned to be either a comic or a cartoon. But I never went beyond just drawing the cast. I drew dozens, no, HUNDREDS of characters at the time - veggies, robots, animals, mutants - but I drew only about three different comics back in my teenage days.
