PSComics on July 30, 2007
Welcome back, folks.
Here's the first page of our story, starting off with a little bit of history on the Apache. Courtesy of some intense research from Alana Joli Abbot, our intrepid writer.
As always, we're interested to hear what our readers think. Let us know how you feel about the bits of history we're throwing in.
See ya tomorrow!

Thanks Talekyn. It's one of the things we enjoy doing!

Personally, I'm a horrible researcher, so I appreciate the hard work you all put it to making the historical aspect of this both sound and look authentic. Thanks!

As I started going over the pages and reading a lot of the info Alana had found for us, I really wanted to make sure that the landscape was just as much a part of the setting as the characters. I think more then any other project I've worked on, I really want to push the locations each story is set in, because it not only defines the time period - it defines the people more then anything. That said, I'm glad we opened up with this wide panels to really let the location shine and set the mood.

One of the things I found exciting as I was researching the Apache language for these pages was the amount of material available on the internet--from forums to blogs to history web sites. My experience with this made me very conscious that the Apache language is still a living tongue. Many of the people on the forums I encountered were talking about word usage and comparing notes on different spellings for what was once an oral language. It's fascinating to see how the web has become part of cultural sharing. -Alana
