“For those who've been suggesting ways to dispose of the bomb, this brings the bomb problem to an end. True, Fusion could've flown off to a safe distance, but with the crowds of people, trying to get through the jam-packed exits would be tricky to do without hurting anyone or jostling the bomb (and she has no idea what might set if off); she could blow a hole in the ceiling, but the debris could fall on someone; plus she's in a panic and doesn't even know if she could survive the blast. Energize is just now showing up and there's not enough time to bring him up to speed on the situation. But, lucky for everyone, Bob knows what Fusion can do. For those scratching your heads at this page–don't worry; all will be explained.
”I also experimented a bit with a different highlight technique for Mindmistress here; it's a bit more subtle, but I think it looks all right. I expect the looks of the other characters will evolve as I draw them more as well."
The next update probably won't be till this Friday. The Red Death, who had the next three pages scheduled, had some computer problems. Essaybee is doing the next page, which will end this chapter, then we'll have a week of conceptual art (including a wonderful one by the Red Death, done before his computer problems, that will blow you away) and I'll do the first two pages of the next chapter.
Sorry for the delay, but these things happen sometimes.
I don't know if Bob is smarter than MM---although I think they'd enjoy each other's conversation, if it wouldn't bore Fusion to tears--but Bob is certainly more familiar with Fusion's powers, being the sorce of them, and what Fusion can or cannot do, than MM is, who's just met her.
Actually, Fusion's comment is very in keeping with her personality.
It'd be far more embarrassing if that happened and she let them think it -was- her.
Also, Hmmm... might we be seeing someone here smarter than MM? Bob certainly thinks fast on his proverbial feet. And we know he's got quite the knowledge base.
actually the nova occurs because the fusing of things denser than iron doesn't create enough bang to keep the star from collapsing on itself, the stuff does fuse. thus if the material was fused it wouldn't blow itself apart and go boom. thus she simply increased the density of the material by compressing it, creating a strong foil like balloon (which is probably radioactive now). i can't (but must) wait to see the explanation given (as i doubt she created radioactive material)
A fart joke. I love whenever wacky things are happening around Mindmistress. I love the character who's always so serious and yet finds herself having to endure poop jokes.
I wonder what the bomb is made of if it's more dense than iron. Steel would be less dense.
I also wonder what happened with the fusion of the bomb. Iron doesn't fuse in the heart of stars. When a star tries to fuse iron, it doesn't work, and a supernova is the result.
The art looks good, though the lighting on MM looks a little weird. When she's facing Fusion, the shading is on the same side as Fusion's glow, and MM seems backlit, as though there were a source of light brighter than Fusion behind MM.
OMG, when fusion occurs with elements denser than iron there is an increase in mass which means the reaction will absorb energy. Depending on how Fusion's powers work, this may cause a sudden decrease in temperature possibly dropping the bombs electronics below their operating temperature.

Evidently Sean was later than he thought he'd be. Will update this when we have it.---Al

Yeah, but it looks like it won't be till midday or a little later, probably.

so it was a gas bomb then?
Tolrick at 4:27PM, March 12, 2011
She fused the bomb into handwavium. It's a very dense material.

Specific material of the bomb?

sure fusion, sure.

Hilarious way to end a horribly tense situation.
