No, the President isn't crazy. Oh, he probably isn't entirely sane—given what he lived through, it would be miraculous if he was…but he has a plan. And even his fellow Doppelgangers don't know all of it–although the “good” Gangers, who gathered this info together, certainly sensed it.
jamoecw: Some assumptions still hold. Physical laws can be completely different, but logical laws can't. Actually, most of mathematics must be same, because mathematics is not based on world but on itself. You can't have world where 1+1=3 because neither 1, 3, + or = is based on anything within the world. You can derive all euclid theorems even in world where they doesn't work - like our own for example (in our world, euclid theorems don't hold because space is curved by gravitation).
Perhaps it's just a matter of people's mind 'seeing' Death in a way that makes sense to them and the actual form of each one isn't something mortal, or even godly minds, can comprehend.
well any time you deal with alternate realities general assumptions go out the window. you shouldn't look too closely at anything really. the only world looking too closely at that helps is your own.
Ozmandious: As deaths usually looks humanoid, it would make sense they are per-world or per-live-source instead of for whole universe.
On the other hand, maybe we shouldn't look too closely on this. While it may be more complicated if you take soul into account, the reason your body stops moving when your hearth stop is purely physical and doesn't need any external entity. That's why in more "scientific" words, the job of death is not related to dying itself, but just working with souls, either collecting them or sending them to "proper" places.
given how many deaths must occur in the universe overall each day, the death of an entire planet must be paltry in comparison. Unless these are deaths dedicated to each particular world?
I could see a presidential type hatching a plot to capture death to bring life back to his ruined world. The deaths he caused in the process would be extremely small change compared with what his world has seen and could thus be considered an acceptable loss given the goal, given the way leader types think.

I know how I'd try to dissuade death, I'd just start playing Uwe Boll films 24/7. Anyone with a brain would stay FAR away. BTW, nice page Al

His plan wouldn't be "Mortal Kombat?" Would it?
