redshimmer--You'll find out about their jobs next episode, but you're pretty close to the mark. Except for Doug. No harm in telling you Doug is a freelance web designer, so he works from home and bums it most of the time.
His friends had his back when the street fight was about to get real. They all look like office types that have to be polite and political at the job and turn into armchair quarterbacks and vent once they leave.
Blizzisme--FF doesn't really have a secret identity. The problems with being a superhero celebrity will be shown a bit next episode. As for needing new friends . . . Maybe times have changed since I was in my mid-20s, but this ribbing is gentle compared with how my friends and I joked. Clark's even grinning in the 5th panel, so he knows they're just giving him s hard time. His friends were there for him when he needed them with the bully, so there's no doubt they're there for him when he needs them. The problem is Clark's the focus of the conversations we've seen, so he's also the focus of the ribbing.
Ok, he really needs to get some new friends... Seriously.
And telling them that he got a date with FF may be a good way to pooch the deal before it even starts, since she may prefer to go out with him in her secret identity (assuming that people don't know that Cy is FF) and she has been outed before they even start.
redshimmer--The cat's not publicly out of the bag yet, so Clark doesn't have to worry about that . . . Yet. However, Episode 2 is titled "First Date," so the cat won't be in the bag for long.

"assuming that people don't know that Cy is FF" ... you think glasses can disguise her?

Jamie59--The way the conversation sounds by the last panel, I think the guys believe him. But no doubt better proof would've saved him some grief.

He has to start living that second life where he is a pawn in the plans of all evildo'ers now. But there will be perks to it.

Guess he'll have to produce proof.
