Mechian--Ha! Explanation C is a good one. Guess that's a variation of Bugs Bunny taking a wrong turn at Albuquerque (or the Animaniacs missing Pennsylvania) and ending up in Transylvania.
hmm so what your saying is that since fusion has dual citizenship she legally should be allowed to enter Damar cause A: not part of sas and B: can claim international ties... not to mention good ol c: "I got lost on the way to visit my familes graves. Which way to asia?" least thats how i'm reading it...
essaybee - definitely not a comprehensive list, i bet if we kept saying 2 genocides that happened between WW2 and now we'd be going at it for a little while. ethiopia, somalia. just to keep the african theme going. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocides_in_history
sakudi--The problem was described a bit back in Issue #6: International law prohibits any members of the world's various superhero leagues from operating in a country without the permission of either the sovereign nation or the U.N. Darmar does not want or allow superhuman involvement inside its borders, and the U.N. has not passed any sort of resolution allowing international involvement. (But Brooder did say something back in Issue #6 for Fusion to mull over.)
massenaman--You're exactly right about past events affecting the present, and I don't think Savunn would want to trade; that doesn't mean that she wouldn't feel some emptiness from knowing that her family was wiped out by horrific events and that she will never get the chance to know any of her blood relatives. And I wasn't blaming Pat Robertson for the civil war in Liberia (although the reference was a bit off-hand, so I can understand the confusion)--I was only using him as an example of how even leaders here in the U.S. have basically defended genocide (and being completely oblivious to the obvious hypocrisy--he used his religion to endorse the killing of Muslims because, in his view, Muslims use their religion to endorse the killing of followers of other religions).
If you change the past, you change the present. Is Savunn really willing to give up everything she has accomplished and everyone she knows to change a past atrocity? I would not change anything in my life for fear I would never meet my wife. And why do you have to blame Pat Robertson for events in Liberia? He had nothing to do with it. Will you blame Obama for Israel's downfall?
meemjar--Very true. I'll have to bring this up to my sister, who's a history teacher and big into the Jewish holocaust. And you wouldn't be relating to me, you'd be relating to Savunn (I'm not Cambodian, although my wife is).
jamoecw--Don't forget Rwanda--Almost 20% of its population wiped out in 100 days. Then there's Liberia, where 700 Club leader Pat Robertson basically endorsed the ethnic killing because it was a "Christian" leader killing Muslims.

Whenever my father and I watched documentaries of the Nazi holocaust in WWII Germany he would get a little steamed under the collar and say;
"Sure, all the focus is on the Jews and what they suffered in those death camps. But what about all the others? There were GYPSIES in those camps too, and their fates have been ignored and the Jews get all the Martyr pity!" Finally I asked him why he would get so vehement about it and he looked at me and said; "My mother, your Grandmother, was a GYPSY!"
So really, while I can't directly relate to you, I can certainly understand as it cut close to MY family too.
well this stuff happens, korea in the early 50's the war between north and south had wholesale genocide, which is why the U.N. stepped in (not just the US like many people think). north vietnam would wipe out villages that they felt supported the south too much. kosovo, bosnia, etc. hitler doesn't seem so bad in the scope of things, which is pretty sad really.
Yeah, it is pretty clear she will do the right, but stupid, thing. It was alluded too in Crossoverkill that she had to "lay low for a while" (Brooders orders). And then there is the Cover.

jamoecw--Sadly, you're exactly right. I suppose it's no surprise to you then that Darmar is in Africa in Savunn's world.
