Here's page 13 of Fusion #15, and Wandering Whistler gives a bit of background into the nature of haunted houses, while Blue Banshee catches on to the reason for meeting at this particular place.
UPDATE NEXT WEEK. Hi, everyone. Sorry about the lack of an update this week. My wife had surgery yesterday (no worries--routine procedure, but invasive, and she's recovering well), so with all of the pre-op stuff we've had to do the past 2 weeks, I wasn't able to get this week's page done in time. Assuming her recovering proceeds as it should, we should be on track next week.
The kernel of truth. In times of folklore it was believed that the world was crossed with 'Ley Lines' which were where magic was at its strongest. Even stronger still at where they crossed each other. Wizards built their homes right on the crossroads in order to draw on the magic there. So its my guess that the Ley Lines are actually areas where contact with the outer worlds is existent and here we have a genuine 'House of Secrets'.

I suspect your take may hold more than a kernel of truth, but I'd have to ask Wandering Whistler to be sure.
