I was sitting on the swing seat last summer chatting to my partner and as a bird landed in the birdbath a cat just sprang from nowhere and grabbed it before it had barely touched the water!

I need to get more versed in cat language. That pre-pounce stance is a similar position to the one when I am giving behind the ear, cheek, and head rubs.

Cats really are close to perfect predators... I forget the numbers but I ran across a troubling article about the number of small species cat have actually brought to extinction... I had a cat that caught a rabbit once - ate every bit of it... except the eyeballs... It left two tiny eyeballs sitting there in a stain of red in the ground, staring at me...! But they're still so cute!!
