James Dobson and company have far too much power in this Administration. I drew this cartoon when they vetoed Harriet Meiers for the Supreme Court. I did not want her either, but was far more bothered by the reach and power of a small group of religious zealots.
Yes, that was disturbing, but now the gun is in the other hand as the current republican lament is that Bush inc. has turned his/it's back on the entirity of their core ultra wingnut base -- something very much along the lines of, "Now that we have each set up layers of deniability and Swiss bank accounts we can finally ignore you nut jobs and just finish running this nation into the ground the way that we secretly planned to do from the get-go waaaaay beck when we were first courting, and lying to, you nutters." Rumor has is that said nutters are now no longer just mad, but also mad as hell.
