After having written almost 1100 strips with minimal breakage, I'd say you're well in your right to want this. Enjoy your break, do what you need to do, and we'll still be here waiting.

For what it's worth, you have worried about your ability slipping, and if the many comics of late are "slipping" then I'm giving serious thought to pouring a vat of oil on the ground and pushing you! :) Take the break. You more than deserve it. But never question yourself. I've either been laughing hard or cheering "Go Steve!", so something is going very right in the comic. You have the talent, and it's a true thing. Recharge. We will wait for you.

Well we all need breaks every so often and at best it means putting guest artists for the month and at worst nothing. Just a personal thought. And yes we know you will end up coming back unless Sally has a word to it.
