In Between

This marks the official start. I wrote this short story years ago and never found a market for it. That's the trouble with genre-crossing work - editors just can't find room for it.
For those who care about such things, this was written to the old “Lester Dent” formula. 6000 words is an odd length for short stories these days, so it's been edited down to around 4000 words. 2000 words is a lot to remove, and the result was very tight with fast pacing. This made it one of those “can't put it down” reads.
Unfortunately, this makes it really hard to script, as a visual medium requires a different style of narration. So I've basically had to rewrite the opening.
Anyway, keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and enjoy the ride.
