Okay, here we go: the first page of our stand-alone short story, “Pyrophobia”.
And what's this? A human sacrifice by a mad man with links to the supernatural? In a flashback? Readers of “Shades” will be forgiven if they're experiencing a little deja vu right now!

Captain Planet had 5 teens that controlled 5 elements. Earth, Fire, Wind Water, and Heart. They combined the powers to form Captain Planet.

@shastab24: Actually she doesn't have a name. At the time when I submitted the script to the competition, she was named "Pyrouette", but I wasn't happy with it. I felt that, while the play on words worked when written down, it didn't when spoken out loud. When E.C. Nickel read the script, he suggested a number of other names, including "Flamethrower". In the end I decided that, since the name is never used in the story itself, we could just remove it from the title page all together, and leave her nameless!

I just noticed that the previous page's file called it "flamethrower". It's just funny because of my character of Flame Thrower (and understandable--it's a very easy name to think of for a fire wielder).
