ccs1989, I agree with a lot of what you say here, but there just does not seem to be a template for guaranteed success when it comes to creativity. If there were then so many television pilots would not go belly up at the start of a new season.
So what do you do? You do what this guy [or group of artists did] put your very best work into your offering, cross your fingers, and if it flops, try to figure out where you went wrong.
I love the art work in this comic, but like you, I'm not impressed with the story to this point.
Let's see if it starts to surprise us.
I don't know if anyone who writes this reads these comments, but I want to say a few things about the comics. First the art; Flashy. The coloring is definitely generic, stuff-that-Marvel-and-DC-do coloring. It looks basically like every other comic out there.
Then there's the art. Also generic, with a lot of pointers taken from Jim Lee. Which is alright, I guess, but that gets old fast.
Your story didn't exactly suck me in on the first look. Instead of being easy on the text you crammed it in there. There's no mystery anymore. We know everything about this guy, and that's no fun. There's not much incentive to keep on reading.
Anyway this comic has got all the gloss and fancy coloring, but it's got nothing to separate it from the pack.
