i think you got it. it's clear she doesn't expect to notice these things. i guess the clarity with which she is realizing them could be the confusing bit. i know that to notice any of those things isn't out of the question under specific conditions. high blood pressure can make ones hearing more acute sometimes... and colder air helps distant sounds travel better. sometimes people go to the doctor thinking things are wrong with them, when in fact they have just become aware of something that is normal and natural and went unnoticed. i do not think it hurts for the reader to see it either way (and really, it adds a nice quality, perhaps a bit of doubt as to whether this is truly some bizarre sensory improvement, or simply her imagination at work. and given the themes of lucid dreams, i can't help but wonder if she's even awake at all XP)
Thanks cres0055. *spoiler* the next page, while not exactly a complete freak out, will have an extreme response to the events on this page, so maybe that'll clear things up, as you say. Thanks for your help :)
I think some sort of freak out on the next page is kind of the thing. I don't think you could have done this page any better, I at least get that point just it doesn't really jump out at you. I think it might just be this was kind of expected cause the last pages kind of had something odd about her too. I do like that bottom left panel, it has a nice view of what air currents would actually be. I also like the little add of the possum near the garbage in the bottom right panel, it's sometimes the little things in realistic art.
Did I miss the mark on this page? - Kimber's supposed to be sensing things (bugs in the wall, kid sleeping down the hall) that she feels like she shouldn't be able to sense, and it's supposed to be freaking her out a bit. So... if the images and expressions didn't convey that -- well, I'll do better next time.
Sometimes lying still in a quiet night is just enough. I sometimes actually enjoy just taking in all the quiet and hidden sounds and sensations that pass by unnoticed most of the time.
What? It's not normal to hear bugs in the walls? :) I never tried LSD, but I did have a weird experience with marijuana once. I saw a smiling mouth hovering above the road in front of me while driving (cheshire cat like), when I pulled over, my body became transparent and my bones were glowing neon tubes. Maybe the mj was laced with something else. In any case I just go with the occasional alcoholic beverage these days...

A bit too sensory for her.

btw, if you want to experience synesthesia, LSD is one way to do it. At least that's how I experienced it. It really is kind of mindblowing.
