Mother's Day 2013
KimLuster on May 11, 2013
So I went to a Relay for Life rally last night. For those that don't know, Relay for Life is about raising funds and awareness for cancer research (google it if your interest is perked). It's also a remembrance for those who lost the fight and hope for those still fighting. A young woman (maybe mid 20s) was there, thin and hairless from chemo, but she was still so beautiful. She was in late inoperable stages and was essentially waiting to die. Still, she laughed and smiled with everyone. I couldn't bring myself to say much to her - there were no words good enough… I wondered if she was a mother… and how her own mother must feel.
I think I'll hug my mom extra tight tomorrow

Yea cancer is a terrible thing. I lost my brother to it a few years ago.

Yes that lady has my admiration. 'Some' say a true test of character is only possible during life-or-death moments. Don't know if that's true, but I do hope I'd display the same courage and character were I in her situation.

Sometimes, literally to grin and bear it is all there's left to do. Especially with cancer. I wouldn't know what to say either, but I can't but admire her toughness.

Happy Mother's day. Also, that lady seemed very strong.

The young lady sounds like a hero.
