Kimber Lee's side of these flashback events can be read on pages 48-61
.
(long art exposition below - feel free to not read it)
.
Artwise, I'm trying a new trick, inspired by Fallopiancrusader's extremely NSFW webcomic called Rimjob - loosely based on the video game Skyrim (never played it). It's about a lady Orc who really enjoys carnal cavorting (that's very graphic sex, folks - don't go look of you're offended by that stuff!)…
.
Would you believe me if I said I only read it because of the awesome artwork - haha yeah we'll just go with that :) Anyway, the art is incredible, but what I like most about it is the way he does muscle and body contours: extremely smooth fades and ripples. So while I'll never be able to duplicate that level of professionalism, it did inspire me to try something. With watercolor, you normally paint light over dark (due to it's translucent quality), but to sort of try to simulate those fades FallopianCrusader does, I painted certain areas (skin and clothes) dark first, then, using water only, I ‘lifted’ the paint back out of the areas I wanted lighter. This does seem to produce smoother transitions and I'm gonna experiment with it a bit longer. It seems to work best in smaller areas (it failed badly with those giant Ball things).
.
And my page production will start slowing down a bit… I know I've said it before but I mean it this time :)
.
Thanks for Reading everyone!

I HAD to read the full editorial just to work out what an art exposition was! lol ;)

@Szyszka666: Thanks! Retrospection? Well, I forgot what happened - the story had to remind me :D
Szyszka666 at 10:16AM, April 16, 2014
You have a thing for retrospections, don't You? And they look better and better! :)
KimLuster at 4:20AM, April 16, 2014
@Peipei: Yeah, got some serious catching to do :). @bravo1102: Thanks - sometimes I sneak 'em in on purpose :)

Great choice of images for this flashback. Very allegorical like FC says.
Peipei at 7:03PM, April 15, 2014
That's so sad hat Emilio had to go so long without the love of his life and o see her slowly deteriorate like that. I guess what's more important now is catching up. :)

@FC: More props to ya! Yeah, 'lifting' really does 'de-saturate'. It can remove almost all the paint from an area, depending on factors(how much water you use, how long you wait before sponging it back up, how dry the initial dark layer is...) And Airbrush...! *makes sign of cross* I'd end up airbrushing my eyeball...! Believe me I've tried - my brother is a world-class airbrusher, but I don't have his skill and (more so) his patience!
fallopiancrusader at 11:50AM, April 15, 2014
Thanks for the props! *blushes* I'm honored. I like how the lifting technique creates more subtle blends. I think it's particularly effective on clothing. Is it me, or does that technique reduce color saturation a bit? The smoother blends provide a nice contrast to your linework, which has gotten bolder over time. (BTW, if you really want smooth blends, you can use an airbrush too, but that can be one ornery piece of equipment!) I love the panel where she's wrestling with the giant molecule. Now that we have the context of the rest of the story, that panel is very allegorical. I'm excited to see more story and art soon!

@Banes: Hmmm four pages a week...? Maybe they can stick a feeding tube in me like Kimber Lee at the top of this page, maybe a catheter too... that way I can draw pages without worrying about bothersome things like eating and excreting :) Seriously - Thanks!
KimLuster at 7:24AM, April 15, 2014
@plymayer: well you were the first one to ever comment on my comic. I think I speak for the DD community when I say I really appreciate your continued support (as you do for so many comics), and I'm pleased that you judge my stuff getting better... So... Thanks!
Banes at 6:50AM, April 15, 2014
No! We need four pages per week! Make it happen, Luster! But seriously, the art and story are great. Agree totally with plymayer. This page is a great way not just to fill in some blanks, but give a quick recap. Good stuff!
plymayer at 6:37AM, April 15, 2014
The art gets better with every page. The story has me hooked. Always want to see what happens next.
