Tried the sametechniqueas previous page, but I went too dark on parts of my initial wet layers, which made it hard to see my pencil lines. Tried to lighten it with more water, which started erasing the saturated pencil lines… Argh! So just made the best of it. I like this technique but it will require some honing.
.
How in the world can Kimber Lee dodge all that? Even with her abilities? Well she is presenting an erratic and fast-moving target, which the soldiers are trying to aim at. I bet if the soldiers, in unison, were tojust all sort of spray bullets in her general direction, that ‘might’ be a more successful tactic, but they haven't thought of that yet ;)
.
Kimber Lee firing an M16: never fired one personally, never held one, but I tried to read up on them. I figured if someone had already fired the weapon, then you could just pick it up and fire too (if that's not right then just imagine she somehow figured it out). But I did think there's no way she'd know how to take it off a three-round burst setting, given the urgency of the situation - how easy would that be, anyone?
.
Bottom line is, while I'm trying to maintain an element of realism, this work is till more concerned with the dramatic and philosophical implications of what's going on. Absolute perfection in military tactics takes a back seat, but I will try my best, with what I do know. Really Bottom line - Kimber Lee is fighting for against seemingly impossible odds. She knows it! She's scared, but also reasonably confident in her abilities now.

Thanks for reading everyone :)

@jgib99: Ha, yeah like that Chinese guy in Ocean's 11 :)

This is a situation where Kimber Lee wishes she was a contortionist. Great work!!
KimLuster at 2:40PM, June 30, 2014
@Szyszka666: Well Kimber Lee has been shot three times before now, and she's still walking around like she's at the state fair... Do these guys attacking her have that intel? If my boss didn't give it to me I'd quit ;)
Szyszka666 at 1:42PM, June 30, 2014
I hope she won't get shot! But then again she'd probably heal very quickly, huh?

@plymayer: I would've bet that one of you two would know :D
KimLuster at 4:28AM, June 30, 2014
@Peipei: haha Yeah she's a nimble little mynx (re-watched Ghostbusters the other day :)

Trained with M-16s at Black Water about a year before I retired. They are fun to work with and easy. Can't say I ever really became an expert though. Did qualify marksman with one. The ship I was on at the time did not have any. We had the old m-14. Was kind of hoping Bravo or someone who knows what they are talking about would jump in with some real info :)

This kind of puts those Dragon Ball Z guys to shame xD Avoiding lasers and all! xD

@FC: Thanks! I've tried those sorts of grand fades, with little success. You're right - it's an effect I really would like to have in my repertoire. I really should just practice 'effects' more than I do

@bravo: Thanks! Ha, I sorta looked up some of those settings after the fact. Maybe it would have been a good idea to know totally how a weapon works before depicting it, but oh well... at least any ignorance Kimber Lee had about it was realistic :) Your synopsis actually makes better sense than what I read, however :)

Great action page! The watercolor washes look really smooth now. Just as an experiment, it might be interesting to make more pronounced tonal gradations in the bigger washes. Sometimes that will increase the illusion of depth.

The darkness adds to the texture of the shots. Action is intense. By the way there's a selector switch on the left side of the action right above the trigger. Up is fire or semi, front is safe, back is auto (or burst for three round burst equipped rifles) Auto means as long as the trigger is depressed the action will cycle (gun shoot). Semi: one trigger pull one cycle. Burst: one trigger pull, three cycles. Safe: trigger cannot be pulled.

@Banes: lol... well! I am most appre...apre...apprai...er, thank you ;)

I really like that there's a sense of weight to Kim; she looks solid and...3d, I guess? It's a huge plus for the verrissimi--versill--vermiss--uh, realism!
Banes at 9:56PM, June 27, 2014
I'm loving this technique - I like the darkness of it, too (even if it wasn't quite what you intended!). Awesome, exciting page! I wonder if the soldiers are not supposed to kill Kimber. That could be making their lives more difficult, too. Either way, and this is sincere: this is not too over the top in my opinion. I'm totally on board with this!! You efforts to keep things somewhat grounded are working great if y'ask me!
KimLuster at 6:54AM, June 27, 2014
@plymayer: cool! Do you know how the 3-round burst works? Is it a distinct setting from the full-auto and semi-auto settings? That knowledge could come in handy :)
plymayer at 5:41AM, June 27, 2014
That's one of the problems with automatic weapons. They waste a lot of ammo. Usually, only useful in full auto for spraying suppression patterns or at a crowd where the aim doesn't matter. Mostly, you keep them in semi-auto and point and shoot at what your aiming at.
