Overall hues are muted and darker ‘cuz these flashback scenes are s’posed to be occurring at night…
.
Well… So that's how Eli got big! And that's why Mr. Caleb and company were able to capture him and keep him prisoner. Could a human as big as Eli really exist unknown in our modern world, with all the cellphones out there capable of video? If he was trying to stay hidden, and the people hunting him were trying to keep him a secret, maybe he could for quite a while…
.
I imagine glimpses of him would be found on youtube (check out creepy videos sometimes, I especially like the Fresno Nightcrawlers!
.
And now I hear Gunwallace made an awesome theme about the Godstrain - I must hear this thing!
.
Thanks for Reading Everyone!

Great page, especially the shading :)

Another great page! Love how this strip is going!

@tupapayon: True that! If destruction was their only intention, Big Eli wouldn't be hanging a subterranean vault!
tupapayon at 6:05AM, Jan. 22, 2015
On plot device, very common plot device: we want to capture the monster, not killing it…
KimLuster at 5:03AM, Jan. 21, 2015
@bravo: Thanks for the informative post - I'll keep all that info in mind! I did have ideas for larger weapons being used and this will help!
bravo1102 at 4:36AM, Jan. 21, 2015
Considering "crunchies" (derogatory tanker nickname for infantrymen) have to deal with lots of big steel things on the battlefield they have lots of hand-held rockets and missiles starting with the WWII bazooka and Panzerfaust to the RPG-7, LAW, SMAW and AT-8. Then there are various 50 caliber weapons. A soldier is expected to carry around 60 pounds of stuff and it's not hard to make something that weighs that much with big ass firepower that's blow Eli's head right off his shoulders or make a huge hole where his chest used to be. But stories and movies tend to leave this for last because you'd have no story if Mr. Big monster got his chest ripped out in the second reel. So it's a Godzilla sized monster or poor souls on a desert island with no weapons. No TOW carriers to take out Mr. Troll.

@Ghostrunner: Grrr... I can't find that quote - what's it from?!
KimLuster at 4:20AM, Jan. 21, 2015
@Peipei: Ha, he ain't never gettin' out! NEVER! NEVER YOU HERE!! ;)

@plymayer: Thanks!

"it's shamus o'tool your friendly undertaker. he's the last man on earth who'll put ya down"
Peipei at 9:19PM, Jan. 20, 2015
Now that is just frightening! It's like they're trying to take down King Kong in those last 3 panels! And I think this guy and his people are a gonna be in for a rude awakening pretty soon. I have a feeling they won't be able to keep him down for much longer!
plymayer at 8:50PM, Jan. 20, 2015
Very exciting and informative.
KimLuster at 8:13PM, Jan. 20, 2015
lol Well we've never addressed crapping in the comic yet so there's nothing really to change even if I wanted to! I'm fine with Eli taking a few super dumps in the woods if it adds a touch of realism :D I really did think about it though; that bodies that recover from lethal wounds very quickly (with nary a scar) really just might be super efficient in the waste department, able to digest much more of the food intake than us mortals... Anyway... what a crappy conversation Ha!
tupapayon at 7:39PM, Jan. 20, 2015
I was hoping one of my comments would make you redo your entire comic… XD… actually I'd be more impressed if someone instead of redoing a page would come up with a creative solution in a subsequent page… but manipulating an author is the least of my goals… keep doing what you do and take us where you want to… we are enjoying the ride… "Don't go changing to try and please me You never let me down before, mmm"…
KimLuster at 1:19PM, Jan. 20, 2015
@tupapayon: I didn't take what you wrote negatively in any way whatsoever...! Even though this story is fantastical, I still consider it largely 'hard' sci-fi, so it's supposed to follow physics, chemistry, and biology closely (at least to my current level of understanding in those fields) EXCEPT when the mysterious 'Godstrain' is involved. Even then, the characters in this story still think it may adhere to physical reality, just hitherto-fore unknown aspects of reality (and I want it to seem that they could be right...) So... don't feel bad about pointing something impractical out. Although I doubt I'd redo an entire page, it's good to know for future reference... *oohh fingers hurt now haha*
tupapayon at 1:10PM, Jan. 20, 2015
I try not to be the asshole I tend to be… a friend of mine hated when I pointed out impractical things in his designs or stories… in a way , I gather, they can convert crap to energy… like Mr. Fusssion in Back to the Future…

@Banes: Jack Caleb is a character that, for multiple reasons, is dear to my heart. He's very 'Byronic' to me (mysterious, with an air of danger, but also with a touch of elegance, and a philosophical, perhaps even poetical, bent). He predates Kimber Lee in my head, and I could certainly create a story with him as the (dark) hero. I'd say Kimber Lee's way of thinking more closely resembles my own, though (all her hangups and neurotic tendencies included :)) And Monster-Eli... Well... Got a lot of story left - that is all! :D
Banes at 10:29AM, Jan. 20, 2015
It's cool to see a glimpse of the horror story that was going on without Kim's (or our) knowledge. I love the writing here, with more of Jack's grandiosity. It makes me think how different this story would have been with Jack as the protagonist. All in all, gimme Kim and her down to earth humanity as the hero any day (though I love seeing things through Jack's eyes too). I get the strong feeling that Kim hasn't seen the last of Monster-Eli, either...
KimLuster at 9:46AM, Jan. 20, 2015
@FC: hehe, I can go ahead and say he thinks everything about Eli's current appearance came from Kimber Lee's subconscious! If it did, then why did she 'create'... that?! Maybe she watched Natural Born Killers (Rodney Dangerfield) or maybe Fight Club (Meatloaf) right before 'infecting' Eli! And the Cow... Yeah, I started to put in more blood but decided it was disturbing enough!!
fallopiancrusader at 9:44AM, Jan. 20, 2015
Congratulations on the theme song! It sounds great! I can't wait for the part where Caleb explains why Eli grew those huge man-boobs. That cow-eating panel is so disturbing.

@bravo: Coast to Coast AM... Absolutely...! :) For future reference, what's the biggest gun that can be carried (without enormous difficulty) by foot soldiers?
bravo1102 at 8:15AM, Jan. 20, 2015
Reports of this guy were probably all over Coast-to-Coast AM for months. There are at least two paperback books documenting him and sixteen websites. But everyone knows it's all just a hoax. Or DoD misinformation for what they're REALLY doing. Obviously they wanted to take him down and capture not destroy. Gun shot are pin pricks? use a bigger gun next time. Amateurs.
