Chapter 11 Header
KimLuster on March 28, 2015
With where we are in the story, parodying something just didn't feel right… Picasso is much more famous for his cubist abstract art, but he also created other fantastic pieces. I especially like art from his ‘Blue’ period, which includes this ‘Blue Nude’. I used it for inspiration for this chapter header. I purposefully intended some symbolism here - feel free to guess…! Hmmm, my last three chapter headers have all had Kimber Lee nude… a pattern! Hrrmmmm… Next time I'll put her in nun's habit or something!
.
This chapter is going to be… crazy!
.
The story itself is quite convoluted at this point, so I think I'll post a synopsis of where we are in a day or so for who haven't had time to read my backlog, or just haven't had the energy to do so, or for those who just don't know what the hell is going on (you're not alone)! :D
.
Thanks for reading everyone!

Thank you Sky!! :D

This is one of Picasso's paintings that I'm not familiar with so that was interesting in itself. Your own rendition is really lovely and I especially like her hair! :)

@FC: There's a quote somewhere I gotta find...!

Lots of fertility and birthing symbolism going on here. That's fitting, since Kimber Lee is the mother of a new species.

@Syszska666: Thank You! Yeah, sometimes the simpler you can keep something the better it is - a phrase commonly used in music is, "Less is More".

I love this painting, and Your "remake" is very beautiful. Few simple lines can make a masterpiece :)
KimLuster at 10:23AM, March 30, 2015
@Banes: well the nakedness and despair is certainly there as well...! And I think, if I'd've tried to simulate one of Picasso's better known, more abstract paintings, y'all's preferences would've quickly shifted back to ol' Pablo :) I wouldn't have even tried to parody something like 'Guernica' - would seem almost sacrilegious!!
Banes at 9:17AM, March 30, 2015
Oh...I missed the egg/starchild thing...just picked up on nakedness and a pose of despair...and I agree, your pic is preferable to that Picasso character's...
KimLuster at 6:51AM, March 30, 2015
@bravo: well, I was sorta thinking of the Starchild from 2001 Space Odyssey when I made this ;)
bravo1102 at 5:23AM, March 30, 2015
There's all kind of symbolism here. Wonder if that egg means anything? Birth, re-birth? Or just wanting to hide back in the womb? Intriguing.
KimLuster at 4:39AM, March 30, 2015
@VinoMas: Could I put it in the fashion show?! :D
KimLuster at 4:38AM, March 30, 2015
@plymayer: Wow...! Thanks! Think I could get them to hang mine in the Prado (giant art museum in Madrid, Spain)?!!
VinoMas at 1:17AM, March 30, 2015
Nice assets
plymayer at 9:48PM, March 29, 2015
I like your picture better than Picasso's.
Banes at 2:51PM, March 29, 2015
Haha...I have been here's long time, that's true. It's gone by fast!
KimLuster at 2:36PM, March 29, 2015
@Peipei: Thank You!
KimLuster at 2:36PM, March 29, 2015
@ghosty: I'd say you're on to something ;)
KimLuster at 2:35PM, March 29, 2015
@Banes: Yeah, I think I will put a text-only 'story-so-far' type of page next day or so... might help me keep it all together as well :D. And you've been following this story a long time - there's comments by you way back when it was black and white (maybe you just forgot you were here haha)!
Peipei at 2:24PM, March 29, 2015
Very beautiful chapter illustration! I love the different hues and how blue this image is. :D
ghostrunner at 12:07PM, March 29, 2015
i'm predicying some kind of egg symbology too?
Banes at 10:14AM, March 29, 2015
Another wonderful chapter heading - if this is reflective of the coming chapter, I take it Kim will be facing harder...hardships than ever. The story seems followable, though I still haven't finished the whole archive. I thought of making a "companion" comic for my own series, to allow people to keep up with any developments easily. That sounds like a good idea for The Godstrain for sure.

@tupapayon: No, just drew (and erased) until I got the pose I wanted...
tupapayon at 6:49PM, March 28, 2015
I don't usually ask technical stuff... are you using a model (live model)?...
KimLuster at 11:17AM, March 28, 2015
@Sway: Wow...! Thank You...! *Big Smile!*
Sway at 10:21AM, March 28, 2015
Very, very nice work. Your use of shadowing is superb, and you really capture a kind of manic desperation with the hair pulling. I do all of my work 100% digitally, so I'm always impressed by your use of watercolor with The Godstrain. It simply offers a level of texture and personality that you can't get with digital painting, which works both really well for the comic at-large, and especially well with strong, singular images such as this. Excellent work!
