Have you ever listened to someone who's messed around with an ‘underage’, after they got caught and suffered some ramifications? It's weird! They'll seem so heartfelt-fully sorry, even tears, but every once in a while they'll throw in statements insinuating it not wholly their fault… The ‘I couldn’t stop myself' is one of the better (in a bad way) ones. You can hear the kernels of manipulation in their voice… It's a surreal disturbing experience!
So what's Kimber Lee doing? Is this the stupidest of stupid moves?!! Does she see something to gain from it (assuming the military will even heed her outlandish request)?!

I have to admit that hearing Eli's words made me think twice about the whole situation between him and Kimberley because it has an element of truth about it, especially the loop, that makes sense, so I can't work out if he's making a really valid point or if he's extremely sly. Clearly Kimmy's not buying it tho... not yet anyway! Great stuff!

Hmm, so in a twisted sort of way, does this make Kimber Lee a mass murderer by proxy? I can see a sick kind of logic whereby Eli could very well consider himself the victim here; he's sort of being held hostage by this thing that is him in a way but is probably moreso Kim's vision of him. Well, that is, if you buy into what he's saying.

Kimb is pretty bold on this page, although I think she has every right to be at this point. If he wants access to the Godstrain, he's going to have to get through her first, and I doubt she's about to lie down and let him take it either!

Thankfully, I have never had to deal with a pedophile in the real world. If for the sake of argument a person is a good person and a pedophile - then would they not go out of their way not to be put in situations or with children unsupervised - to prevent things that shouldn't happen?

Wow - Eli's sort-of-sorry attitude that then tries to get some of the blame off of himself rang very true (and sick). I'm not surprised to read that you based it on some real life observations of that kind of thing. Also - stellar page! Really nice and clean! Is that marker or something, inking over or under the paint?

Hey, yeah... I've been fortunate (NOT!) to hear a pedophile talk about their 'reformation'... I'd rather hear 'I was just an evil scumbag' than any sort pseudo-explanation ('my mind was messed up', 'it was like I was someone else...'); the latter always seems like a shifting of blame...! As for inking, I've been combining pen and ink for a while! Thanks a bunch!! ;)

And of course no one briefed Kimber Lee on proper radio procedure. "Over" means you expect a reply as in "over to you" whereas "out" means you're finished transmitting and do not expect a reply. In her hectic up-training for this that kind of thing probably would have been over-looked. Too much other more pressing stuff than radio procedure. ;)

Heroes since freaking Achilles have always fallen for this one-on-one fight thing. Okay be heroic, forget the army and this fight decides everything. Except there are whole armies of really pumped up people who may want to continue the fight no matter what the Mr. Hero fight decides. Say their hero dies and they want revenge? It never works outside of epic poems and movies. But it's still a great dramatic sequence.

Ha well I did say this is a potentially stupid move in my author notes ;) Or is it? Eli has left all his hostages behind, and has stopped short of fleeing to downtown Dallas - could it be that Kimber Lee sees an opportunity to save thousands of lives by making it one-on-one like Eli wants? And maybe she likes her chances...! And yeah, the army could just fight on, but Eli may like his chances better if he somehow gets full control of the Godstrain by beating Kimber Lee! It may not seem like it - but I did try to think about all that stuff ;)
