Sometime after Mt. St. Helens originally erupted, I was going down the road, ash covering the sides & someone had set-up a table with jars of ash to sell… and people were actually stopping & buying. They could have just scooped up some ash on their own! Why were the idiots buying?

My dad was going to go fishing on the Toutle River with friends that Sunday, but it got called off for some reason. Good thing because the area where they would have been fishing was wiped out.

I was born 7 years later. My dad, however, said he was camping in the area and woke up to his tent covered in ash. He has no idea how he slept through it.

I lived in Portland, OR when Mt. St Helens blew, but I do't actually remember anything about it. :(
