I wish I had answers for you, @charliequin. All you can do is what you can do. If the parents aren't ready.... well, at least you're giving the child a few hours of freedom, and that's not a small thing. My advice is to be a good friend and resource of the child and to let them decide what to say to their parents and when to say it. <3 C

@charliequin- that's a really rough situation for everyone involved. :( You don't want to go against the parents too much, because they could easily replace you with someone who might be horrible to the poor kid, but you don't want the kid to feel alone, either. Try just letting the kid know that whoever they are is fine to be, there are always going to be people who love and accept them, and their parents will always love them even if it takes them awhile to understand what's going on, maybe?

I just baby sat a little girl who may or may not be a boy (she/he's not sure) and her family's not exactly ready to learn or listen. I dunno what to do. I don't know why I'm posting this, but I wanted someone to know.
