He had to go pretty far to get to the point where Ralla's asking questions. But it's kinda good to see her questioning, even something so obvious.
In regard to the skeletons, it was just something I've always thought about in fantasy when you have skeleton warriors…they have to be the most complex creations ever as far as magic is concerned, because the spell needs to hold them together, make them move (which in itself is complicated to do all the various motions required by just walking), add force to their movements because there wouldn't be any without muscles, make them aware of where enemies are as they have no senses, ect, ect, ect…it just always seemed to me to be something that was far too complex to be very useful…unless you just intend them to scare someone.
Incidentally, all these arguments become moot in my head if they have a soul inside them, because then arguably, the soul could be handling all that stuff and the magic could be much simpler.
…why do I think so much about this stuff?
I can't remember if I like the art or not and I don't feel like opening the image again (though I think I dislike the last panel).
If you're interested in finding a new webcomic read and need some recommendations, my top ten are here.
Thanks for reading! See you next week!

That skeletons brain is handing upside down, he needs something to slow him down.

I think they just need to get out of town!

Hinata Fan - Yes, absolutely. If you're asking in regard to Nareth, he spoke the words of the spell on the previous page. If you're asking in regard to Bradley, he didn't do any magic, Nareth's congratulating him on bopping the first skeleton's head off. Though I would like to point out, the lower level spells that most people can do will not actually require spoken words. (lighting a candle, ect, ect) obviously this spell was NOT one of those spells as it is a bit more powerful, so this note is irrelevant at the moment, it's just a fun factoid. XD

don't you have to speak to use magic?

Ok, so I'm finally caught up now. Tons of cool things have been happening in the last few pages, character and plot-development-wise. I feel sorry for the skeletons, though. They're just guarding their home turf, afterall.

Ooh, and I read your top ten. Only ones I had heard of even were Aldus Maycombe and Order of the Stick. Aldus Maycombe I read for a while, but couldnt get into... but Order of the Stick I agree with wholeheartedly. Just take one look at yesterdays strip, and you'll see how epic and complex the whole silly comic is. It's crazy good!

Defeated by a light breeze! XD Never thought of the skeleton warriors that way, but it really makes sense o.o cool.

hm, i'm trying to think of some easy, convenient excuse that nareth can give to set aside the implications of this extremely inconvenient revelation.... but nothing too compelling comes to mind! "oh yeah, the lock on the magic just happens to apply to everyone in the lands except for me..."
Lupina24 at 10:08PM, Feb. 1, 2009
hmm, methinks nareth's gonna have trouble evading explaining himself
