Chapter 25: Portent

New chapter! I think you see what I mean now about not much happening in the last chapter, but I do think it all was necessary to set things up. This chapter starts out similar to the last one, but I think it'll go some interesting places before the end.
On this cover…normally, I like to leave things entirely to your interpretation, but I couldn't find anything that corroborated the source I was using so I'm not entirely sure how well that'd work. So, this is the source I was using. In hindsight, I see I did something wrong, but eh, it's a small thing in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for reading! See you next week when the chapter starts.

They're just too lazy to go up there and get it down to fix it. After all, they have a second, perfectly sound banner right there. :D Oooh, thanks for the tips! (You'd think I'd have an easier time with it, having grown up in a cold weather region with a wood stove myself, haha!) That does make a lot of sense. I'll have to apply that the next time I'm doing an image with firelight....in hindsight, I probably should've spent more time on the shadows too, everything looks a bit flat. Lessons for next time!

Hmmm, someone's family pride does not, it seems, extend to using a needle and thread. Battle damage that was deemed too cool to repair, perhaps? The lighting is fine, but it would look more like firelight if it was sharper. You have a sort of diffuse glow with shadows, but firelight is really bright/dark (I grew up with a wood stove as the only heat, so I had only firelight often in the evenings). Imagine a 150 Watt bulb that only extends a few feet, with deep shadows that keep moving.

I'm a nit disappointed in the lighting, I admit, but I'm pretty pleased with it beyond that - mistakes aside, haha! Making you intrigued about the chapter is the point! I hope you enjoy it! :D

Uh oh ... A sorrowful, clawed onlooker mangling up the palace fineries. Cool cover. I look forward to the next chapter.
