Keep the date in mind, I'm going to aim for every 13th of the month for the update!
Also, I found out that TV Tropes is absolutely useless now. I have seen cartoon characters in old, old cartoons project themselves like a ghost while dreaming/sleeping/knocked unconscious but I couldn't find a single example listed, and Google search certainly didn't help either. No matter how specific I was, everything I got in return was the same new-agey stuff I didn't need. (のﮯの)
So I'm just stuck with a vague recollection that I've seen it in enough old cartoons to know it was a thing, the only example I knew for certain is even a variation on the theme.

Even if there had been a TV Tropes page, in my experience 90% of the examples would probably be inaccurate anyway! Oh, Nando, when will you learn to stop messing with these things? It's never a good idea to go yanking things outta the living!
