What's this? A new update so soon!I don't know how this happened. I just sat down while a little tipsy on retsina and didn't stop until I was done (9 hours later).Eichel totally stole Bohm's champagne.
Thank you! This whiplash kind of feeling is what I got reading a newspaper of the time (a 1942 issue). They were reporting on all sorts of grizzly announcements, and then in the 'social' section there was a slew of super swanky party reports like we were suddenly in a Cosmopolitan issue. So I kinda wanted to recreate it a bit.
Thanks Oz! I really try to keep most of thetorture and stuff like that offstage. ANd yeah SS had dress uniforms! THey remind me of an especially sinister singing waiter.
Damn! Commenting a month late! The horror of the situation of the victim is displayed well here using the ball scene as a direct contrast. Dramatic, but realistic. It's probably a lot more gentle than the real thing anyway. Love their dress uniforms though. I've never seen SS dress uniforms. I didn't know they wore "bum-freezer" jackets like the British.
Kudos for your last post! I believe your comic has just as symbolic as historical relevance for a country that has been subjected to ruthless occupation twice, regardless of how the media want to portray it as ‘help for your housecleaning’. The hard facts about the suffering of the Greek people are here to stay because they are undeniable, and no propaganda is likely to clean them from observation or memory. Your comic shows exactly the realism of occupation, without overdramatising anything. Just as today’s situation in Greece does not need any overdramatising for any objective observer to get and tell it as it is.
The FBI had no business in the matter in the first place. The crime took place in Korea. :P Our friend was held 2 years in a jail in the US without a trial. She was extradited and had a proper trial. All is fine now, in any case. Certainly taught us a few things about the so-called "justice" system. -- The incident (roommate murdered) was scary enough to begin with. Our friend is an amazingly strong and positive person. I don't know how she got through all that.
Peipei: Yep, that's pretty much it. The tied up guy is just work to them. // usedbooks: Haha! Now that would be creative. And that's horrible about the FBI. Isn't that a breach of the person's rights? // bravo1102: He got barely a passing mark in that course. :P
They're doing it wrong! Should have given the 14 year old champagne. (Although, frankly, an innocent friend of mine gave the FBI a murder confession after enough sleep deprivation and withheld food/water. Good ol' FBI... Luckily, the case was in another country. She was treated fairly over there after she was extradited.)
Major lighten up, everyone needs a little champagne after a hard day at torture. It gives the victim a chance to reflect on their suffering. You sleep through your Torture 102 class at Himmler U.?

Brutal! I agree that the switch from the swanky party to the sight of poor Fotis is very powerful.

Usedbooks: Man, that is horrid. I hope she was at least compensated for some of this abuse.
