…and it's an anime.

That's right, S. L. Jackson is going to be a voice actor as the main character in a show about a black samurai.

That's right, you don't know what to think. It's way too much awesome.

That can cause someone's brain to explode.

It's like Snakes on a Plane only in a medium I love, and with Samurai.

My god…

And make sure he says the word "motherfucker" alot. Although, if it'll be on Adult Swim, they'll bleep out all the cursing, and actually leave the bleeps in it on the DVD release.

They don't always leave the bleeps in. Like the Boondocks had an uncessored dvd. I'm sure this would be one of them.

It's not being produced for Adult Swim though. It's a limited-episode series destined for Spike TV…I think.

T-th-tha that just…oh my.

Finaly some recognition for people of the with-afro persuasion.
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.

Also, tell random people they are awsome! it helps!

Why didn't he say "motherfucker" in Star Wars? Here he was fighting this crusty old white Sith lord and didn't just let out, "Get your pasty cracker ass over here, Motherfucker!" Or what was really needed, "Shut the fuck up, Jar Jar! I can't believe I get killed off in Episode III, and your retarded fishy ass is still alive at the end of the movie!"

That's usually only the case with original series. Afro Samurai has been in the works for a while now and it's not really an American project. Adding Samuel L Jackson is a start, but I really hope the drop a lot of the lame crap from the source material or else a lot of people may end up being disappointed.

So you, Isukun, Mr. Anime Snob, are saying that the dubbed American version might be better than the original Japanese version?

Wow. I think Hell just froze over.
PS: Kidding! Kidding! Ha ha ha…

Actually, I said nothing of the sort. I was just saying the Afro Samurai franchise never sounded all that promising to me. By source material, I'm refering to the series of action figures the manga and anime are based on.

XD OMG. Although…

Gonzo has been known to be hit or miss with series (Final Fantasy: Unlimited anyone?), and Funimation tends to really fuck up dubs…

But hey. What the hell am I being pessimistic for? It has Samuel L. Jackson, mother fuckers!

Yer the only one I've ever seen say the boondocks sucks. I mean, what ever floats yer boat, it's just something I don't hear often.

As for the afro samurai, it looks really interesting, and animates well, so I'm impressed.

My Gym/Health teacher is super psyched about this anime. He actually ranted about it today during class.

I've never read Afro Samurai yet. However, I've seen quite a few Japanese mangas featuring black dudes as the protagonists. So, I don't really consider this anime as something new or special. But I'm not sure if this anime will be accepted by the black community because I know some mangas tend to portray black characters as annoying characters or fools.

Afro Samurai manga was first published in 1998.

XD Personally, I loved the Boondocks. So nyar, no schmack on 'em, yo.

I wonder, though, since Samuel L. Jackson will be providing the voice, will this anime have the stereotypical black protagonist? Or will he be a helluva lot deeper?

Samuel L. Jackson may very well be the coolest man alive.

I know what you're thinking, jack nicholson and sean connery have been all up ons that title for over a decade. But I am confident in my belief that jedi shaft has wrestled it away from them.

I've always noticed that the black people in anime tend to have ridiculously large lips compared to other people which is somewhat akin to the fatlipped drawings of sambos that we now consider pretty derogatory because like Eunice said, sambos usually showed black people only as childish/foolish type characters that unkowningly needed the caring guidance of their white masters.

Hey this looks awesome.. however the art is a little funky :P It's not too often we see many Japanese anime flicks with Black people as the main character. It might be interesting to watch.

That because manga (since the begging) borrows stuff from western cartoons, that's one of those things that sicked.
