What is this guy's appeal?

No, I'm serious! Why is he considered so funny? What is so appealing about a crazy yellow sea sponge who is clearly confused about his sexual orientation?

I know how is so crazy. I saw on a Robot Chicken episode how.

He and Patrick were jumping around, and then they got tired. Then they walked off-scren and you could hear a loud *SNORT* and then they went back on-screen and were jumping around again!

Spongebob's a solid show. I can't say that he's the funniest character, but I think that the show was always funny in general.

Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.

Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.

Riddle me this… riddle me that…

I really don't like Spongebob, I just don't think he's funny. All of the jokes are just really corny, and not in the good way either.

My English teacher thought very highly of Spongebob. She said the show had a lot of great humor smuggled in for adults. I'm not going to argue against that since I've only seen a few episodes of the show.

From what little I've seen of Spongebob, I did feel there was some humor value. But it surprises me how popular the show is, since it didn't seem like it was all that awesome.

When I want cartoons secretly laced with grown-up humor I'll catch Foster's Home or Dexter's Lab.

Spongebob is crap. He's the underwater version of Rocko's Modern Life. And I LOVE Rocko. But ripping it off and having it take place underwater…and not be funny, seriously:

Uptight bachelor with fat, effeminate, dim-witted friend in dead end job living next to an angry impatient loudmouth has zany senselessness misadventures.

Spongebob is Snorks.

I never realised it was like Roko… But then Roko could be said to be just a tame version of Ren and Stimpy.

Personally I like Roko a LOT more :)
(then Ren and Stimpy or Sponge Bob)

I don't think any of those shows have “adult” humour… it's more 20-something type humour, you know? Sponge Bob did seem to get dumbed down a little in later episodes I thought, but it was reasonably good… Not as good as Roko's Modern Life though. No way.

I'm not sure I can really explain it, but there are a few episodes that are really funny. It's no Animaniacs or anything, but The episode where Squidward tries to teach Spongebob about art cracks me up. Some of the episodes are really boring, but if you just find the right episodes, the show is really funny.

That show can get really annoying when your name is Patrick.

Watch Billy and Mandy, you'll be as surprised as I was. I'm surprised it's considered a kids show.
i will also like to know you the more

We all secretly wish we can be that happy and carefree, not caring if we work at the under the sea mcdonalds…or have one friend we only hang out with who seems dumber than yourself, which makes you feel better about yourself, but don't show it…having a pet snail…we all have secretly wanted a pet snail…living in a pineapple…come on a pineapple people….and laugh like a hienna sucking on helium…

or we love laughing at retards.

Its a cartoon for kid, what more is there to say. It's humor is trying too target young children and teenagers, not adults in there 30's. Some of you might not understand why kids like this show (including me) but kids and teenagers like a lot things that doesn't make since to me. Rap being one of those things and High School Musical being another.
Homophobia: The irrational fear that gays will break in and re-arrange your furniture against your will.
