Seen it. Most of them are okay story-wise, and have lovely animation.

Old news. Honestly, it was a bit disappointing. Despite its flaws, the Animatrix was a better compilation.

Gotham Knight was technically an anthology movie, like Memories or Robot Carnival. Armitage III: Poly-Matrix, and the original Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy were compliation films.

Just saw it. It was okay. Dead shot was pretty cool. Since the animation was done by six different animator it became funny to see how the guy kept dramatically changing between events. In one of them he looked more like an owl than a bat.

Oh yeah. This isn't from the movie(obviously) but I like it and since we were talking about the guy…

Those were my two cents.

dude…where have you been?

honestly this was a bit dissapointing. I was expecting japanese style batman stories, but instead they just went and told “in between begins and TDK” stories, which meant the american creators had alot of input. I wouldve liked to see batman fighting a thousand ninjas in anime style.

the story aside, the art in this is fucking GORGEOUS. my favorite scene out of the whole movie is when batman lays an anime style beatdown on two gangs having a fight.

sound wise, this is great too. the english voice of batman is kevin conroy from TAS, and the japanese voices are good as well. The commentary is also very interesting, they talk about the mythology of batman (however its just americans, no input from the japanese again)

definately a must-rent, and if you are a hardcore bat-fan, a must buy.

It was fun to watch and sometimes neat-looking, but it served to show that anime doesn't quite fit with Batman. At least that's what I got. Maybe it's because I feel like Bruce Timm did such an excellent job. But hearing Kevin Conroy's voice coming out of a pretty-boy bishonen didn't help.

It was good, but not exactly great. Still, I didn't regret watching it and some parts were pretty slick.

anime doesn't quite fit with Batman.

STRONGLY DISAGREE! the only part that felt out of place was the pretty boy story. everything else worked great! The japanese do a great impressionistic take on batamn.

I Strongly agree with his Disagree. I felt the shorts were excellent. I especially liked the short where Batman had to fight though the pain.

I've just finished watching it! Working Through Pain was definitely the best one- I like introspective Batman far more than the other aspects. I loved the ending of that short. Also he was the best-looking Bruce. :)

I also really liked the first one, with the kids comparing stories. Maybe just because the art was the same as in Tekkonkinkreet, although it's a bit rough I like the physics of it, and its blockiness gives it a nice earnesty that goes great with the kids. If that one had been slickly animated I would not have liked it nearly as much, it wouldn't have fit. It just felt really genuine. I liked this version better than the Batman: Animated version.

I didn't like the pretty-boy batman story either… with the bullet suit. Mostly because it was predictible.

All the others had some cool element- Deadshot (the short) seemed the most anime-influenced of them, but as Hawk said, you could tell there was a lot of American-end control over them. It's more like they contracted out the animation than getting different houses to do their own takes.

I watched these when they first came out. As an avid fan of Batman this is probably the worst thing I've ever seen connected to the franchise. As a mild fan of anime, this is one of the worst crossovers I've ever witnessed. As a whole I would give the series a D-. Working Through the Pain being the only redeeming segment.

Seriously, bishie Gordon? Whoever thought this was a good idea should be fucked up the butthole with a kitchen knife.
