Hi. Put down your votes here & now for the best giant robot/mecha series ever! This includes transforming ones, combiner ones, beast ones, etc. Whether they're piloted, controlled, or have their own A.I.s.

But Evangelion fans should not apply, because Evas are not robots. Evas are giant synthetic cybernetic humanoids with a driver's seat.

The SDF1 from Robotech!!!!!!!!! I am a fan-boi of that one.
(stuff Macross)

Its mecha form was simply pointless… But it was MASSIVE, and it was a super space warship.

Does Transformers count? If so, then yeah, thats my vote. If not..think I'll go for Burst Angels, can't beat a giant robot cowboy…though there was another show with a giant cowboy robot…can't remember the name though…

My favorite is G1 Tranformers, but in terms of quality story and execution I'd have to put Robotech as number 1, followed by Beast Wars/Beast Machines.

Was never a mecha fan but I used to like Robotech when I could catch an episode and Big-O (made data and algorithm classes so much more bearable just to hear the teacher unknowingly mention the name of an anime series I watched)

I loved Iron Giant

Yeah, Big O was great up until the last 2 or 3 episodes, which were amazingly pretentious and answered absolutely nothing. When a whole series is built around the concept of revealing a mystery of what happened 40 years prior, covering it all up in BS and psuedo-religious imagery doesn't satisfy. Still the characters were really good.

I'm going to snub the Robotech fanboys by saying Macross. I liked Robotech, but I found the link between the three sagas somewhat tenuous, especially the Southern Cross portion of the storyline. I hated those characters from the middle chapter. HATED!

The Macross saga was fairly easy to get into though, even with all the annoying references to protoculture, which was never adaquately defined. Thank goodness ADV finally put out a version of the show without the Robotech-ism sloppily spattered all over the storyline.

Robotech first and foremost, with Martian Successor Nadesico far behind in second.

I thought that the cartoon, Megas XLR was really funny and unique…But, it didn't last.
