Donald Rumsfeld is no longer going to be Secretary of Defense.
He's being replaced by Robert Gates, former CIA director.

That's odd…

Bush said just last week that he wanted Rumsfeld to serve until the end of his term.

I wonder what changed?

I wonder what changed?

Maybe Rummy called him fat. Presidents don't take kindly to that.

A call from Nancy Pelosi, maybe? Oh, and he now says “he was kidding” about that. ;)

Jebus, they took their time getting rid of that ideological imbecile…
But will the difference really be more than cosmetic?
Maybe he's being set-up as a scapegoat for the recent failures (as well as all the other ones).
That's probably why they couldn't get rid of him earlier, it would have meant an even bigger swing during the election…

Oh man, this is almost as good as the Democrats winning the House. Bush is still completely out of touch though. He still thinks that this election didn't really concern America's views on him all that much.

By the way there was a really scary quote by Dick Cheney today along the lines of “Fuck Democracy in the US, we don't care about it.” I'll have to find the exact quote though. It was in the paper…
