Teaser Trailer….

I'm glad you can tell next to nothing about the film from the Teaser, it gives the internet complainers nothing to whinge about… though god knows I'm sure I'm about to be proven wrong.

Clerks was a very important film in my mis-spent youth so I am looking forward to this with a great sense of nostalgia.

That later I found myself in my early 20s clerking, the messages of “get the hell on with your life” were not entirely lost on me.

I greatly enjoyed the Clerk's animated series. This movie looks interesting.

I am a big fan of the original.

This looks realistic. When you're over 30 and work at a fast food place, you always get the most gorgeous girl.

Hate to say it, but it looks like a sell out movie. We'll see though.

It's in colour
And everybody's fatter
Maybe that's just the widescreen format though… I hate widescreen.
The music was good though, until the end with those shitty driving drums.

Are sequels ever any good? I mean real sequels, (not planned series like LOTR etc). I don't know, I've seen a couple that turned out ok, they're usually weak. Be honest.

But I'll give the second Clerks the benefit of the doubt. ‘Selling out’ at this stage isn't really an issue, he did that as soon as he could, every movie since then has been deliberately more commercial than the first, even Dogma, (especially so) and that's perfectly ok.

…..

I didn't really find the first Clerks all that great I'm afraid, although it does get a lot of acclaim and good recommendations, it didn't really strike a cord with me. It seemed more like a series of lacklustre comedy skits all strung together. A good film student project, but not much of a movie. But that's just my impression and I'm in the tiny minority there. Perhaps I have no taste, or I'm an idiot or something? It's quite possible.
I'm embarrassed to say that I got way too bored to watch it all the way to the end, so maybe it got better and I missed it?

I never saw the first Clerks. That being said… this trailer looks pretty cool. Especially the music. The music fitted it nicely: just wave after wave of loud, stupid rock, as if to scream in the viewer's ear, “The Clerks are back! YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!! LET'S TIP SOMETHING OVER!”

I'm going to have to see the first one, though, before I can reach a final verdict.

I generally don't judge a movie's soundtrack based on the trailer. Trailer music is usually licensed out by different people and isn't featured in the movie.

I love Kevin Smith. I have no idea why this teaser trailer has no dialouge, considering that his movies are pretty much 99% dialouge.

after being introduced to clerks at the young age of…well…young by one of my best friends, i'm in love with it. we hunted down the animated show and watched them once…well, tried to do it twice, but second time through wasn't that good. my bf even bought the speacial edition of the movie and we watched all the extras (including commentary…yeah). gotta love Kevin Smith for selling all his comic books just to make Clerks. <3
i'm looking forward for the second one, but i'm wary at the idea of it sucking large or being sold out as every movie now-a-days seems to be filled full of consumer whore-ship. yeah…i guess we'll just see….

I didn't like the original as much as most, but I think that regardless the sequal will be tripe. Call it a hunch.

I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles".
We now have a podcast called The Random Pirate Comics Show!

Sure, it happens (on rare occasion):
  • - Spider-man 2
    - Toy Story 2
    - Godfather II
    - Terminator II
    - Star Trek II - The Wrath of Kahn
Usually though, if they get to III, they suck. :?

But I don't think Clerks 2 will be included in the above list, anyway. :(

I have severe doubts that it will be good. I didnt enjoy the first clerks as much as others, though I did enjoy it to a point. But this just looks like trying to make more money off of the clerks name

I have never finished wathing the first clerks, but I can not wait for Clerks 2. I've liked every other Kevin Smith movie and I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Then be forewarned, my friend. The boys have gone clean in this movie; in honor of the fact that Jason Mewes himself has finally kicked his drug habit. In fact, I'd heard that Smith only allowed himself to make this movie after he struck a deal with Mewes stating that, if Mewes were to stop drugs, he would make another movie with Jay (and, accordingly, Silent Bob as well). At the very least, that's Smith's excuse for creating another movie set in the “View Askew-niverse” after promising to leave it behind on move on to more “true to life” stories (i.e.: Jersey Girl).

he said something along thase lines in the commentary for the last Jay and Bob movie.

I wonder if the got christ shirt was another part of that deal.

The actual Jay & Silent Bob filmography goes:

Clerks 1-1994
Mallrats-1995
Chasing Amy-1997
Dogma-1999
Scream 3-2000
Clerks: The Series-2000
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back-2001
Degrassi: The Next Generation-2004
Clerks II-2006

For a long while after the Clerks TV show was canned, Kevin Smith said there was going to be a Clerks animated movie followup to the animated series, but I guess they favored doing a live-action movie instead. Wonder if they're going to do sequals to the other movies like Mallrats 2: The Search For Brodie.

BTW, there's a special DVD collecting just the J&SB episodes of Degrassi.

Of course, I'm excited about clerks 2. Ever since I read the script a few months back, I thought it was going to be a great film. I'm just curious how it will all play out on the screen. Normally leaked scripts are around 80% accurate t

You realize of course, in the new film they are no longer affiliated with drugs, smokin weed, drinkin beers, or even rolling fattys.

  • you forgot Empire, stupid bitch, this is the internet, and a thread about Kevin Smith. You dare not mention the holy trilogy!?

Also Kevin Smith has said numerous times he sold out as soon as he could do Mallrats. He decided he should go back to basics for Chasing Amy and Dogma, then went all out studio on Strikes Back. Interesting note is that he wrote Dogma before he wrote clerks. Another interesting thing I've heard is the rumour of a dogma psuedo sequal, dealing with the current state of the world, including refrences to the profit of a certain religion no one will dare mention.

He didn't mention Empire because it was part of a planned trilogy, whereas the list of sequels was specifically for movies that were successful in their own right, and a sequel was written and planned after the fact.

Jay and Silent Bob were in Scream 3? I really don't remember anything from that movie except laughing all the way through it…maybe they were the reason.

They show them on the movie lot during the S3 movie. Supposedly this is a scene that overlaped from the actual J&SBSB movie when they're on a movie lot in that one.

For whoever posted hes still making Clerks:The Animated Movie except it'll be out on a later date, I've been reading the production diaries at points and I have two things..
That fucking fat fuck!
He promised a simple harlious ovie with no big celebs or Ben Affleck and now he has every guy from hollywood in it and they moved it o Mooby's(I gotten over that)

and
I love that fucking fat fuck!!!
The sequal to my favorite movie of all time is here..
I seen all his movie. Clerks is the most funny in my opinion but Chasing Amy is worth more in value.

I can't wait, I dont care if it'll be bad because Dante and Randal returns for awesome debates.
From the commercials i'm gonna enjoy when:
Dante:“YOU'RE NOT BLACK!!”
Randal:“Why because of the color of my skin?”

I'm prollt the only one who loves that line, im going to wait till DVD because they wont show it in my theaters.

Also the Animated Series sucked ass, unless you never seen Clerks.
Snootchie Bootchies.

I was hoping for Alec Baldwin to show up in C2 as Leonardo Leonardo, instead of Jason Lee playing some @$$hole from their old high school. How many guys in the Askewverse look like Jason Lee anyway?

I love this movie
Now I havent seen all of the original Clerks, so my opnion may not be worth much. But Clerks II fucking rocked. Almost through the entire movie I was laughing (except for the sentimental lovey-dovey moments).
The plot is pretty decent. But what I love about it was that there was never a dull moment. The funny kept comming; from Jay's buffalo bill dance, to interspeicies erotica, to pillowpants, to pickle fucker. I haven't seen a movie in a long time that made me laugh this much.
If you want to see something funny, see Clerks II
