Heh. That's a funny coincidence. I was just watching Predator: the musical the other day.

Those were my two cents.

Yeah, I saw that a while ago. It's brilliant.

What I love about it is that it doesn't really make fun of the movie that much either, just makes it seem even more awesome.

I'll have to put that DVD on again tonight. :)

Can't believe they're doing a remake…

I can, who knows it may be good. Sadly it's directed by the guy that did this…

Which was rather weak overall.

That film looks like the usual cliche stuff with the horrible trend for digital overproduction there to make it all the more painful.

I can, who knows it may be good.
I know; it will be pointless.

The Conan story in the film is, let's face it, a little silly. BUT, Conan the Barbarian is a classic film overall, for the whole production. It's just a well put together, good looking, good sounding piece of work that holds together tightly. A well crafted film that stands out in time.

Doing a remake of that is like doing a remake of Raiders of the lost Ark.

Though I can understand well that people would want to do another Conan film that was unrelated- it's still a very marketable property with a lot of ongoing interest. And if that's what it really is then all well and good. But so far all I've heard is “remake” and that makes me a sad panda :[

I've heard it will be a combination of the old film and the original books, which sounds fine okay in theory… I doubt it will be much cop though.

Well I've finished reading all the original books now myself and I can say that the first Swarchenegger movie was almost 90% based on them… the second mostly, but less so.

-“based” on them in that all the stuff was thrown into a blender and then reconstituted in a different, but just as interesting form.
The only real major change was the origin story- he starts out as an adventurer thief as a youth in Howard's books, not a pit-fighter slave. But his first big conquest IS a mysterious Wizard's tower, where he meets another famous thief- and that scene was adapted nicely for the film for where he and Soubati meet Valeria.

——————————————
Conan nerdage:
…The original Valeria story by Howard is a horrible, horrible piece of crap called “Red Nails”. I swear that the first part that introduces Valeria was written by someone else, it is NOT in Howard's style at all. Conan is just a sidekick in it and the rest of the story was just a rewrite of one of his earlier ones (which was much tighter and more typical Conan). The only decent thing about the story is that for ONCE there's a strong, powerful, able woman who's not mainly a manipulator but physically and mentally able in her own right.
But in the end she has to be saved just like all the rest so that opportunity was completely wasted.
For some reason that story has a big fan following.

Oh yeah, I have the nerdrage bad -_-

But uh…what about those vikings uh…that relocated to Texas? And then lived off of the longhorn cattle inhabiting the area! Yes…

Soon they constructed helmets consisting of horns from aforementioned cattle, but eventually abandoning the area leaving no trace save for one helmet! Eventually it was unearthed by someone familiar with media and spreading news and thought: Yes! This is it! This is the face of vikings we've been looking for.

meh.
It wasn't vikings that immigrated to Texas. It was trolls. The vikings were beating them up pretty bad so the trolls had to skedaddle to newer pastures.

Pretty sure there's a branch of Texan trolls that mated with the longhorns. To this day, it's why strangers really shouldn't visit certain Texan towns.

This just might be what Broadway needs right now. Arnold is available. I'm sure it couldn't be any worse than Spiderman. No wires, just swords and hacking.

And James Earl Jones should be available after Driving Miss Daisy closes.

Ahhh, hahahahahaha… xD

Nuh-uh. I am holding my two tickets for the DragonBall Z musical, sadly. If Pokemon gets one, DBZ should have been the next one to be done - 'nuff said.
