Rules:
Those who try to cheat the rules will be deciplined.
We all want this to be as fair as possible.

First Offical Rule

1) A user can't poll/vote thier own comic.
Reason: it prevents littering the poll/voting with only one support poll/vote.

2) A user must not use multiple accounts to vote.
Reason: it prevents cheating by falsely inflating the vote count

3) A user can only poll/vote 1 comic per category.
Reason: Each comic that a user poll/vote must be the one at the top of thier favorites. We don't wanna decide for you which one you like best.

4) The comic poll/voted must be hosted by DD.
Reason: It's the DD awards, so it makes sense to only have DD comics

Possible Rules
1) A winner can't be polled/voted in for future awards.
Reason: this will stop the same comic from bieng voted every year

If you want to discuss adding a rule here, post what it is and why it whould be included.

Alright, I've changed something around in the rule list. (hope you don't mind, sub.)

The first official rule is a user can't poll/vote their own comic. That's common sense and everyone can agree on that being a rule for the awards. The second offical rule is a user must not use multiple accounts to vote. Again, that's common sense.

The other two I've placed under possible rules. Rule one of the possible rules has a good intention, that a winner can't be polled/voted in for future awards. It gives other comics a chance but singules out those certain comics, and eventually it will probably lead to the demise of the Awards (possiblity? Yes.) The second rule kinda restricts what people can vote on. It sounds fair but also sounds very limiting.

there's great comics coming out every month, so I don't see how this will deteriorate future awards. I just like to avoid webcomic awards that constantly have the same winners…because we already know that they are good from winning past awards. we need to move on and crown another winner

thier best choice should be what they poll/vote…it doesn't make any sense to have 3 best choices. kinda like having 3 best friends. you gotta decide which one is the best one

Who gets to decide to make these into rules?

If you're organising it, you do.
Or you and Myxo?

Make it work Sub :)

I think Volte (if we can drag him away from his busy job) should decide.

Wow…i didn't think anything was gonna get done with this (I know, my fault). I was just finding it hard to motivate myself much less others to get something done. Thanks to everyone getting this moving

Still, while it's fair, it's still unfair.

(Maybe make them only be able to win runner up?)

Sub, Terminal, thankyou for taking charge on this. The comic awards is something I'd really wanted to see for ages but didn't think it would see fruition. I'm sure everyone will appreciate that you're doing a great job. ^_^

I agree with all of these rules. But say one comic wins an award, will he be non eligible to win that award from then on? Or have to skip one award term?

yea, that's what i'm thinking.
it's like bieng a featured comic on DD, you only get featured once.

What about the same comic appearing in multiple categories?

What if a comic gets the best fantasy comic, can that comic get the best story award next year?

that sounds more feasable.
as long as that comic fits in that category

But on DD you get featured once A YEAR. I say you take them out of the runnings for a year, but the next year, they should be fair game again.

That sounds like a good plan. It's fair and gives all over comics (including future past Award Winners) a chance. All in favor of adding this as a rule?

i don't get it. dd only features a comic once per lifetime. there's no double features.
I think volte might be planning something for the winners…but it's very hush hush.

mabye they get front page for a year and then archive like in the DD features

Sounds like a fair deal with the rules. *cracks knuckles* I look forward to nominating some goood comics, muahahahahaha!

(why an evil laugh? I'm not sure…)

Ooh, interesting prizes. Featured for a year? That would be pretty sweet.

I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere but I can't find it mentioned after browsing around for a bit and it seems to fit in with this thread…

I'm just wondering, do the comics we vote for actually have to be on Drunk Duck in the categories we vote for? For example, if I voted for a comic that's been put in the “manga” section of DD for the “fantasy” category would it be discounted because it isn't listed on the site as being in the “fantasy” genre? Like GOTT GAUSS or Grounded Angel - both could be considered fantasy comics but they're categorized on DD as “manga”.

And what about comics that fall into two categories? Can we vote for them in both categories or just the one that we consider most suitable for it? At the moment a person could feasibly vote for one comic in ALL the categories - and who could argue with them if that comic is DOES encompass multiple genres? I think there should be a rule stating you must vote a different comic for each genre category; you can vote for it again in the skills and overall sections though~

I just wouldn't want my votes for my fave comics being discounted because I'd voted them in the wrong category or something… ^^;
