Just to note: I contacted Amelius, she plugged the Awards in Unlife is Unfair, and said she will plug it in Charby the next update!!

Very exciting - thanks for that, Bocaj.

We're well underway - the response has been…well, not exactly deafening, but pretty good! =D

The plan is still to close the nominations effective 11:59p on August 10 (that's a Sunday). That gives up a relatively decent amount of time to plot out how we'll handle the panels. The more I think about it, the more I really like the idea of panels vs popular vote. ^.^

Once we have the top five (or fewer, depending on the category response), I'll be getting with the presenters and assigning categories. That way, they/we can get started on the presentations.

Okay, I'm confused again. Are the Judges also deciding who wins or is that by popular vote?
I think that popular vote decides who gets nominated and then judges decide which nominated comic wins in order to prevent comics winning just 'cause they have more readers…

Awesome… also, I have a real hard time focusing on your messages. Your avatar is really distracting.

LOL! I'll take that as a compliment…

Just as a sort of off the top of my head kind of thing, would anyone be opposed to a complete nominee's list, after the awards are handed out? I'm looking through the nominations and finding myself quite surprised as to the variety of comics getting nominated here. I think it could be quite the morale boost for a lot of creators who think their work is going unnoticed.

I kinda like the idea, it may be good to motivate people to keep going with their webcomics.

I wouldn't be opposed to posting a complete list of nominees in the awards forum. They'd have to be completely out of order though ^.^

I've been thinking the same thing. Maybe Amanda's point could be addressed by simply listing all the nominees in alphabetical order (by category).

As a side note, did anyone else find some of the categories really hard? In some cases, I found the decision between certain comics was almost as if I was being asked to choose between my own children!

I'd have no problem adding onto my program an extra printout without the nominations.
That's “Dr. BlkKnight” to all of you.

I did! Actually, I'll vote close to the end, so I can have more time to choose.

I know what you mean! Some of my favorite comics didn't get nominated by me because I had to choose between it and another favorite in that category. It was really tough! I felt bad for some of the comics I didn't nominate because they really really deserve an award!

I was hoping that might be a possibility to just make a sheet with the names nominated only. It would certainly make things easier.

It was hard to choose for me, too ^.^ So many of my favorites are in the same categories - and comparing them just felt evil…

On a side note, UsedBooks kindly sent Bengo, a guy who writes a webcomic blog, my direction. He asked some questions about the Drunk Duck Awards!
It's HERE. As I said in the Salt notes, I hope I didn't come off as a ham or credit hog or anything horrible. It was very awkward.

On the plus side, I think it's extremely awesome that we're getting press outside the DD walls! Plus, the winners from last year were posted in his awards archive AND the winners from this year will be announced on his site as well. Woo!

Sweet! Given that sort of a good sign, I'm thinking things look good for the DD Awards. Who knows, they could possibly become something as big as the WCCA's some day. Maybe next go around we can work out a way for non-DD users to vote for their favorites to really help get that jump start outside the community and help expose DD to the rest of the world. Not to get too far ahead of oneself of course. ^.^*

No hamming or credit hogging to be found there.

I ended up leaving a lot of categories blank myself because I couldn't decide. Now I'm wishing I could go back and fill them in because I've finally decided. Oh well, too late now. lol!

Sounds like the awards are going well. I just plugged the awards link into my comic page this day (to make up for the fact that I didn't draw a comic page…)

Hopefully you guys will get more feedback from my own readers.

If you want to put some Project Wonderful ads on my TLT page, just look for “Times Like This Leaderboard” or “Times Like This Undercomic Banner” on PW. They primarily show up on my TLT website, but I put the same ad spaces on my DD site too, so they'll show up there as well.

Thanks, PyThomas! I've put something up. Also, Emma, I'd love to have you as a presenter and have added you to my list.

Thanks so much, Tantz!

The support from everyone has been really encouraging! The increase in the number of votes is directly related to people plugging the Awards in their comics. Thank you guys! Keep spreading the word ^.^

The plug for the awards has gone out on SS and I think we'll continue to do so until voting closes! I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but thank you for giving DD an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful comics on this site! Thanks also to all your work and effort into making this happen :)

I salute you! ha ha

Hi, Rudolf! I've added you to the list! Thanks for volunteering ^.^ I'll be PQing people once the tallies are done to assign categories. That should happen around August 11 or 12.

A general heads up - I'm going out of town tomorrow (Aug 9 - it's my dad's 74th birthday! 74th!!) and will return on Sunday (Aug 10). I will be back in plenty of time to take down the ballot, so no worries. Just thought I'd let people know since that's kinda crunch time.

Also! We should think about a potential trophy. Do we want to use Subcultured's golden feather idea? I kinda like it. Discuss ^.^
