I'm guessing they're about as tall as a person, yes no?

That one gives a better idea of scale, and you get to see the T-rex traumatize some poor kid. Well, hear it traumatize the kid, anyway.

Rubbery suits over mechanical armatures eh? Yeah…
Well It's good that they're getting two legged walking machines to such a common level now that you can use them for novelties like this.

They look pretty decent really, but I wonder if they can make anything useful with legged locomotion. I've seen footage of a log harvester by John Deer (Probably for selective logging inside a forest), pics too. It walks on four legs… That'd be more useful than a wheeled machine (able to get to and carry loads from areas inaccessible to wheels). I hope things like that go into production, it'd be funky! :)

I only wish I was a few years younger, I would totally freak-out as the lil' dinosaur geek that I was back than ^^
Well, maybe it's better that I didn't see this sort of thing back than, I would have DEMANDED to get one of these for my birthday ;)

Great footage! I love robots! It's great to see how they improve so much.

…What the fuck? Did you listen to it?!
“David, you are my farther, but you feel more like a best friend to me.”

It makes you want to take a baseball bat to its face.

Nice smiling expression they gave it… pity about the 80's movie dialogue. It's like it was a Steven Spielberg movie of something.

I like the way the Dino's heads wobble rubberily as they walk

Speaking of dinosaurs, anyone been to New York's Toys R Us store and seen this 20-feet-tall monstrosity?

I turned my brain off, stared at it long enough until I was convinced it was real, then it suddenly turned my way and roared and scared the crap out of me.
I think little tots stayed away from it. This thing is frightening.

I have, that Toys 'R Us is pretty nifty. I still wonder how they can afford to still have a full Jurassic Park section in that store. Do people really still buy toys based on that franchise?

This technology could give way to a Metal Gear! Oh, where's Snake when you need him?!

Heh. Giant walking dinos. That's pretty cool. Yet slightly disturbing.

metal gear on the works

HUBO-FX1 is the human-riding robot having 12 DOF. The development concept is that the robot can walk naturally with carrying a person or a load of 100kg, so the lower body takes after legs of human and the upper body takes after a chair. A person who sits on the upper body can control the robot naturally using the built-on joystick installed. It has many kinds of sensors. Each ankle has the 3-axis force/torque sensor which measures a normal force and 2 moments. Each foot has the inclination sensor which measures angle of the slope. Also the rate gyro and the inclination sensor of the body can do a stabilization of itself. HUBO-FX1 is 2m in height and 150kg in weight. It is possible to perform forward walking, backward walking, side walking and turning around

It reminds me of “i-foot” by Toyota, but I think i-foot was more impressive ^^
The Australian performance artist Stelarc (who I've met) got together with scientists and worked on a project with a huge walking machine. It had multiple legs and he was connected to it somehow… Ah, found his site, there's some info here and here.

Ah, some pics of the working version: pic1, pic2.

I've seen video of it, it's bloody loud and scary!

Oh, here's i-foot:

And a longer vid:
