This is just what I've learned in the past, but while jpg does a pretty good job at keeping quality with a lower filesize than png, it tends to blur images more, especially in fine detail. Jpg is terrible for sprite comics especially, because of the low amount of colors used, and the harshness between them (which is needed, I won't go in and explain pixel art fundamentals…like it would matter, most people rip their sprites instead learning pixel art but to each his own). Jpg is meant for photos, and does a pretty good job with most comics. Just keep that in mind. My advice is save it in both and choose the one you like better. But also, jpg is smaller so it takes less time to load (even though png can be compressed).

Just a bit of info to consider.

Rad is broadly right. PNG or GIF are better for sprite and pixel art, while Jpeg is best for drawn artwork.
