It's gonna suck.

I believe I saw Forrest Gump for the first time last year, and it totally suprised me. It was WAY better than I had expected. All the cliche-hollywood romance I had heard of was not to be found. It was original and the way of filming and the story development reminded me of Big Fish. The movie was feel-good, was funny but at the same time it was pretty sharp. Lots of people don't see that and call this over-the-top happy, but there are a lot of sad things going around in this movie. It's just that you hear it all from Forrest's point of view who doesn't notice all that. Beautiful.

The tells his lifestory, what's more to add? Or is it going to be a spin-off? Anyway there is no way that this movie should get a sequel. What a bunch of morons…. (I haven't readen that 2nd book either, sounds kind of sucky)

Ugh. There should never be a sequel.

I'm reminded of the Critic with their parody “Forrest Gump II: Gump Harder.”

There are few movies in our lifetime that are perfect, and can end without a sequel. Forest Gump is one of them. Like the Dutchman said “What more is there to add”? The first movie goes from childhood to adulthood; the only thing i can see is “Forest Gump, the golden years”, or “The son of Forest Gump” (God help us if they make either).

If I believe hard enough, maybe this won't happen.

godfather 2 was good
That's because the Godfather was actually intended to have a sequel, not like Forrest Gump. Besides, what would it be about, Forrest pretty much went through all the interesting parts of the last 50 years.

Does it count if the work is intended as a trilogy? Like, Kill Bill 2 was good, but it wasn't so much a “sequel” as it was just a continuation of the story.

Lucas had no plans to continue Star Wars past the first movie until after it became so popular. So when Star Wars first came out, it wasn't intended to be a trilogy. If you really think about it, the movie really does stand on its own. The ending doesn't offer any sort of setup for a sequel

Kill Bill is kind of an odd situation since it was originaly intended to be a single film, but it ran too long and the director wasn't willing to cut that much footage, so it got divided into two installments.

Normally I'd say “are you freaking kidding me”…but after reading about it…I'll just have to wait and see. I mostly just think “WHY?!” though. And if Tom Hanks doesn't agree to it, than forget about it.

I'd like to add Terminator 2 to the list of good sequels.
