What's the liberal equivalent of Fox News, anyway? I mean, to hear it from Fox News it's basically everyone else, but there has to be some newsgroup that's so ridiculously left-wing that it boggles the mind. I hope it's not The Daily Show; that'd be kinda sad if the only equivalent to Fox News was deliberately humorous.

i was watching fox news during all the pre election stuff, and i stopped watching. week to week they had their polls, and one week mccain would be in the lead, and the next obama. and this is what they'd say.
“well it appears that ______ is in the lead, and that ______ is never going to catch up with him. they have held that top spot for weeks now, and even tho the other is closing, they just might not do it.”

then i was like, this is bullshit. click.

I like how good they are at fractions.

As this video clearly shows, the vote is practically 50-50. You're blind if you say otherwise.

I like how there was ONE guy who tried to raise a hand for McCain and the lady next to him slammed it down. Must be his wife.

Ha, that reminds me of my government class the other day. The teacher casually asked, ‘How many of you are Republican?’ *One* guy in a class of 50~some students raised his hand. The teacher went o_o.

Oh, and this is in Texas, right.

The underlying message he is that he will say anything to stop Obama from being President, as most republicans have been recently. The other common one I've heard is “He'll be impeached because he wasn't born in America!”

Also I like how the newscaster in that video voted for McCain and nobody else did.

You silly people. It's all just a scam to keep the bloggers and the 24 hour news cycle busy with pointing out foolish technicalities.

Obama was elected and the vote from the Electorial College was certified. What about Biden's oath? Did that one go okay? If it did, guess what! Biden is president until Obama gets his oath right.

But wait, there's more… now they're saying when Obama retook the oath (slowly this time) he didn't have a Bible to swear on! So what? The Constitution has that one covered because it doesn't mention any Holy Book and says that it can be an affirmation instead of swearing an oath! You swear with the Bible, you affirm on your honor. 18th Century Secularism not this “under God” stuff shoveled down our throats since the turn of the 20th Century.

Yeah Obama is the president. I want to find all the people who made even the slightest fuss about this, shove them all in a boat, and put it en route to the Bermuda Triangle.

The Oath and a Bible isn't the only thing that gets you into the Presidency. :V

Not when a vast majority of their audience doesn't get the “joke”.

Besides, what other legitimate news source* can you think of that would “clearly kid” about something like that?

“Yeah, most news channels want to give you facts, but FOX news kids around! They're funny and fresh!”

I'd rather my actual news have more facts and less joking around. But hey, maybe that's me.

You're being biased at the same time as you're critizing them for it. Nobody makes you watch Fox News it's illogical to hate them.

fox with all it's bells and whistles makes people think that they are actually telling unbiased factual news which makes people think its all true. by watching fox news and believing in it, a person can have a skewed perspective on what is going on with the world and will determine their actions to the world

yes.
at least jon stewart throws a puppet here and there to show people that his show is not to be taken seriously. fox news is 90% opinion and 10% facts. an opinion is not news.

Not that I'm the type to reuse TD lines, but in this case I feel it worthy. ITT: Bias on both sides.

I'm just ready for people to get over this election and stop whining, complaining about Bush, fumbled oaths, etc. so we can get back to the matters at hand which are actually important such as what we're going to do about this little deficit spending issue that we seem to have been working on for so long ( If I recall corectly it was during the depression that we started in on the idea. Correct me with a link or two if I'm wrong ).

I don't normally watch tv so I don't know if this is how Fox usually works, but this just seems very unprofessional. They all seem to be yelling at each other and joking, even interrupting that “Pat” guy.

Yep. The fox core there want him to fail before he's even done anything at all. And they are very shouty people aren't they? Like some sort of bad comedy act from the 1930s. It's bizarre.

On the comedy vibe, I love how the big fat face guy looks and sounds so comicy in a blubbery way, and the skinny thin headed guy has a funny honky voice and the red haired lady had a big square head and a comical manly way about her. They'd make a funnier team than the guys in Anchorman.
It's sort of like Murphy Brown (for those that remember it), but WAY funnier, without the morals, and real.

If you don't want to believe me about Fox News' obvious bias yellow journalism, then listen to former Fox News employees. Oh, but I suppose they are all just ‘jaded and lying’.

I never made the arguement that they aren't biased. I said you're a hypocrite. It's news analysis. It's opinion it's not facts if you don't like it don't watch it.

The biggest problem that people have against Fox is that they advertise themselves as unbiased and fair. Heck their slogan is: “Real journalism. Fair and Balanced”.

I myself don't watch Fox and I wish more people would follow suit. If enough people boycott this network they might hopefully change their method.

That probably doesn't go far enough. Rupert Murdoch started with his philosophy of rubbish journalism back when he inherited his dad's newspaper empire here in Australia decades and decade ago.

He had MANY battles with his quality, experienced editors and journalists, trying to improve the mass appeal of their work, trying to lower the level and make it more accessible to the “common taste”.

He took that as far as he was able to in Australia, which wasn't too far, before moving his attention to Britain. There he assaulted the entire newspaper industry. He's a big part of the reason they have images of semi naked women on the front pages of some newspapers there as well as the extreme focus on celebrities and the personal lives of the rich, the famous and politicians as opposed to actual news. Along with a generally right wing focus. (not always “conservative” but usually always right wing).

THEN he created Sky news which fit in with his “common taste/ people are morns /give them moronic stuff” theory. So this television empire had a big focus on really base stuff like crappy sport (horse racing etc), sex, and light news. It's since developed into something a bit more respectable.

But then his company bought 20Cth C Fox (I think it was called then) and simply applied the same tried and true forula to the united states.

————————–
So you see it's nothing unique or sudden. Murdoch has been doing this for a very, very, long time. It does seem to get a bit crappier each time, but when his direct influence moves on the projects develop in their own ways. When he finally dies, the fox network might change direction. His children aren't the same as him and within any comapny, no matter how crappy, there are always a lot of good people trying to do the right thing.

I can overlook all the crap that Rupert Murdoch has foisted upon the world of journalism because of one thing: the Page Three Girl.

As for his being the worst ever; gosh people forget about yellow journalism from the turn of the 20th Century. Rupert is just following in the footsteps of William Randolph Hearst.

Like things have changed? I'd like to see that Hearst would have done with the 24 hour cable newscycle. Anyone remember the media moghol before Murdoch? Ted Turner? His political opinions are all over CNN, but hey since those opinions agree with “my” bias it's okay. “I don't agree with fox's bias so it's wrong, evil and to be denounced.”

lol!

We're both wrong and we're both right. And people don't think critically and believe what they hear and take it at face value. Time to burn down the library because I don't agree with everything every book someone told me is in there even though none of us have ever bothered to read those disagreeable books. lol!
