Has anyone had a chance to try this out?

http://www.grafpup.org/

It is a linux distro specifically for graphic artists. I am using it to create my comic.

It is well worth the time to check it out and burn it to cd, since it is a live cd, you can try it out without installing it on your pc.

artcurmudgeon, thanks for the tip. I don't use Linux, but I think some other DDers do. This should definitely be of use to them!

And since it is a live cd, you could download the .iso, burn it to cd and then try it out without actually installing it to your computer.

The best options on it I have found:

1)cd/dvd player right out of the box, so I could be entertained while I draw.
2)was able to set up scanner in about 15 minutes, was pretty easy.
3)able to download fonts from blambot drop them into the fonts dir and go to town.
4)I had fun using it…

If anyone is interested in it and needs help, let me know and I will see what I can do..

thanks

How is tablet compatibility in grafpup? Kubuntu came with the drivers for my grraphire 3, but it still required a little bit of manual configuration.

In all fairness, I dont know yet. I got a bamboo for x-mas and I am looking to try it out. It is build on puppy linux. My only hangup was I had to download the xsane backends and the front end as well. I will keep updating as I experiment with it.
