Hard liquor hangovers?

Okay. So anytime I drink hard liquor and party into the morning, I always pass out and wake up super early feeling fresh and ready to take on motha' fuckin' Fedor Emelianenko, which is a bit retarded, needless to say, I don't feel the least bit sick or have a head ache or anything like that. Anybody else have this ability after a long night of drinking 101 proof bourbon?

For the record, Fedor is a baaaaad mother fucker and would kill me. So I'd hope if I did try to pick a fight with him, someone would try to take me far, far away from him. Hypothetically speaking that is, I don't think I'll be in Russia anytime soon. Just saying, I feel like I COULD after my ‘liquor hangovers.’
Cease this, honkus!

Given the proof of the alcohol and the bravery that borders on being suicidal, have you considered that you might still be drunk when you wake up?

Just sayin.

I would second your thought, but I have the same thing as he does a lot of the time. I can drink beer and liquor for half the night and come out with no ill effect the next morning save not wanting to get out of bed on time. A large part of it is how you drink. Drinking slower over a longer time tends to result in fewer hangovers as does drinking other things besides alcohol. So if you're doing a lot of mixed drinks or only drinking one or two in an hour, like if you're spending more time talking than doing keg stands, it's not at all impossible to get quite drunk without a hangover.

Now, on the other hand, white wine has been known to do a number on me, and I have gotten hungover if I stay awake until I'm completely sober instead of sleeping once I'm halfway there. I think sleeping tends to help your body focus on processing it all or something.

For me, i can drink hard liquor into the night, and have no ill effects, (short of 750ml of Jack, which is another story altogether)

Beer on the other hand, leaves me the traditional drunken fratboy…puking everywhere, with the need to not make any sudden movements when i wake up.

I normally pregame with 750ml of water tho…

Beer for me is a different story, I'll wake up with a mild headache and stay in bed. And after I wake up post liquor day, I'm not still drunk, just energetic and not sleepy in the least bit. But I don't drink beer much at all, I like Wild Turkey personally, drink about half a bottle of that and wake up refreshed. Puts 5 hour energy to shame to say the least.

I think different compounds in the different drinks can have worse hangover effects. Red wine is worse than white wine, for example. Has to do with how the body processes it, I guess. I think some mixed drinks are worse than others too.

Iba is right though, HOW you drink can be more important than WHAT you drink. A good rule also is drinking a glass of water between alcohol drinks, which helps give your system water to flush out the alcohol faster. A lot of being hung over is being dehydrated.

Why do we have two threads going about getting massively drunk?

Skoolmunkee: Tis the season, after all.

To be slightly less smarmy about the original post, I kind of know the experience- I've really only had hangovers two or three times in my life. I've probably had the refreshed feeling about as many times. I usually konk out pretty early later, though- it's not so much that I'm actually refreshed as it is that my body is playing some sort of game on me or is taking mercy on my nerves.

Most of the time when I get drunk, I drink enough water and/or eat enough bread that it doesn't seem to effect me either way by the time I wake up.

I've had hangovers that were so bad that I eventually really did decide that it wasn't worth it. There's no point in deliberately making yourself that sick. -_-
I can get a hangover from anything if I drink enough of it, so I prefer not to.

Besides, ultimately it's your liver that's really suffering. You might feel great every morning after drinking all night, every night… Meanwhile your liver slowly gets worse and worse, till one day you wake up 50, aching in your guts painfully. :)
That's not a fate I want.

As Munkee said drink water between drinks. Also EAT. Then eat some more. Hangovers are about compression of those bloodvessels which doesn't happen as readily if you digestive system had something else to work with that is nutritional even if it's chips or peanuts.

Designated driver here. Have to know how to imbibe without getting over that legal limit. ;)

Without a headache or rebellious insides? Heh, whoever came up with that original quote probably didn't drink too much. :)

Also EAT.
Man you can eat like a horse, drink water like a camel and still wake up wishing for a quick decapitation the next day.

Alcohol is a poison. …and there are a lot of variables involved. Maybe various eating and drinking tricks will work for some, but they don't always work for all. And even if they do, you won't escape the hidden costs (mainly liver). So for me I try really hard to avoid overdoing it.

True.

Also eating does help a great deal. If you drink some hard liquor on an empty stomach you run the risk of puking all over your friend's tent =/

Considering that I'm just barely 15, I have no knowledge of “hard liquor hangovers”. Perhaps I should make a trip to my fridge.

Hahaha, yeah, drink as much as you can, puke it up, then tell us how you feel in the morning.

When I was that age that's all I seemed to do when drinking hard liquor, but then again I never ate anything before I did. Got to have something to soak up that shit.

Ha. When I was 11 or 12, my mum sat me down with a bottle of really cheap vodka and poured a shot for each of us. After I took my first drink of the absolutely vile stuff- my first experience with alcohol, nonetheless- she said I could have full access to the liquor cabinet as soon as I finished the bottle.

I didn't drink again until I turned 21.

my family was a bunch of borderline alcoholics, i've been raised on the stuff since as long as i can remember. and i believe that when i went off to college, that's the one thing that helped me succeed over the friends who went with me. Because i wasn't “running off behind mommy and daddy's back”

I have had 1 incident where i got so drunk, i couldn't control myself….

I think that's why a lot of people buy beer. Tastes like piss, in my opinion. Then again, so does all alcohol. ;)

Yes but then I have to put up with the boys, which the alcohol only marginally helps with.
