Personally, Tater, it seems to me that you decided that the movie was going to be bad sometime between the design change and the announcement that it was going to be on Toonami. I'll bet anything you went into this not just expecting it to be bad, but wanting it to be bad. I can't really say why, but I suspect there's a desire here to be able to scoff at those who enjoyed it and say, "Yeah, have fun with your little ‘cartoon’; I've read the real Hellboy."

On the converse, I have to admit that I went in wanting it to be good. I've always liked Hellboy, and I love Cheeks' art, so I was very happy to see the two miraculously come together. As part of that; while watching the film I paid close attention to what was good, and let the little annoyances fade into the background.

Tater Salad
I just gave up 30 minutes into it.

Rule #1 of movies: Just cause it starts out asstastic, doesn't mean it won't get better a little while in.

That does seem to be the general opinion. Who knows, maybe the next one will be better.

30 minutes… that was about the time of the long-winded telling of the “premise” story, wasn't it? That was the worst part of the whole movie, to me; having to watch some nameless Japanese guy go through his whole life story. I feel the whole thing should have been condensed more; seeing every element of it animated, I felt, took away from some potential mystery and magnitude for the sword.
