How accurate are the Drunk Duck Counter Stats?

Sometimes I wonder if my comic could possibly be getting as many hits as Drunk Duck says it is.

For example, I decided to advertise my comic on an outside site for the first time today. According to the advertiser, this has brought in an additional 150 or so unique views today thus far. I can't complain too much about that.

However, my Drunk Duck counter says I'm at 3,000 hits, which is twice what I do in the entirety of a good day! Even if these aren't unique hits, that still seems rather high. And I don't think the views would be coming from anywhere else.

So, is the Drunk Duck counter accurate? Or is it just getting my hopes up?

I don't think it is. I've gotten like 300 in one day and only one comment on that day. It doesn't make sense unless everyone really hates my comics that much. :(

It is pretty accurate. But it only shows pageviews, not uniques, and then only shows stats rounded to the nearest 10 to save on processing time.

150 unique s from somewhere else, added to those already on your comic could easily result in 3000 pageviews, depending on how many pages you actually have.

As in my PQ to KDog:

In answer to your Query, this similar thread in the Comic Discussion area may help:

And here is another thread that explains the page view stats:

OK, I read this thread and the two you linked to.

Is this correct?

If ONE person reads 100 of your pages then it will increase your page views by 100, but barely effect your current rank.

If 100 different people each read ONE of your pages, it will also increase your page views by 100 AND it will have a substantial effect on your current rank.

Has my brain successfully absorbed the basic idea? :spin:

Yes. It only shows page views. That's correct. :)

The site records your uniques of course (because it uses that for the rank), but does not show them in your stats. I know it's weird, but that's how Volte6 coded it.
I suppose the pageview stats are more encouraging to look at

While it would be nice to be able to see both, the pageviews count is certainly more exciting. :-D
