I was wondering…I know work gets the best of everyone and can be very stressful. This got me thinking how do others deal with stress from work. Me personally just draw at my job it helps alot(I even draw funny pictures of other employees who upset me ha ha). If im not at my job and I take my stress from work to home I will go work out then drink a beer or two!!!!(ok ok a 6 pack) :D

If by job, you mean school, then that would be my comic. Drawing and writing my comic pretty much helps me to forget any problems I've had in my day. :D

Fresh pizza.
It is the answer to everything.

“You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process,” he added. “That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle.”

Bottle it up and release the negative emotions at inanimate objects.

Cloud watching does wonders as well.

Well I cook in a really busy, high energy kitchen so I tend to swear alot, tell a few jokes, and then at the end of the night have a nice cold beer

Television. These days it's House episodes. (I have quite a build up of episodes to watch.)

I have a real problem with bringing work stress home with me. Television is my solution because it turns off thinking which means I stop freaking out about it.

Nothing's better than a nice cold can or beer after a stressful day of work. I usually like to draw when I'm just a little bit tipsy, while watching stupid Japanese TV. So yeah the combination of those 3 are perfect!!

And I suppose you could also so my comic is a stress relief… I've been interested for some time in the notion of ‘Slack’ and making time for yourself and the things you love more important than the time you spend on fulfilling your employers wishes.

Every now and then I remind myself that it's only a job… and it's a convenient means to live the lifestyle which I choose to live!

Life is MORE IMPORTANT THAN WORK!!!

I get as much done at work as possible and never bring it home. The stress ends the moment my uniform comes off. A shower and TV banish any remaining stress remnants.

If I feel stressed *at* work, I get done what has a definite deadline but then I switch to a more calming activity. My job is “developing programs,” and I essentially decide how to go about that and what to do with my time. So, If I'm stressed by something I'm doing, I pick up an interesting book and start reading (which will provide inspiration for a future program, so I'm still doing my job) or if it's not miserably hot, I go outside and take a walk. Sometimes I bring a net and catch frogs in the creek. – It's not a job where I can be stressed for very long. It helps that I have only three coworkers and get along with them. On the best days, I'm there by myself most of the time, which is really nice. (Sometimes on my days off, I joke with my mom that I can't wait to go to work, so I can sit down and relax for a while!)

I live an hour and a half from where I work. Yes, I spend 3 hours a day behind the wheel, just to GET to and from my job.

Honestly, this works to my benefit. I get to drive through some VERY picturesque locations, and for about 45 min of my drive each way, there's ZERO traffic unless you count deer and other wild animals.

When I've had a REALLY difficult day, I simply turn the radio up as loud as I can stand it and scream along to the songs.

Primal screams work QUITE nicely.

Nope. Let ‘em go. Right where I catch them. Sometimes I catch shrimp in the marsh. That’s pretty fun. My boss caught an adorable little green snake near the road. We admired it for a while and then let it go near where we found it (but a safe distance from the road – people swerve to *hit* snakes… poor things).

I relieve stress a lot of ways. Reading a good book, playing a game with an actual story in it. Or maybe I'd just go out on the town and take random pictures of anything I find interesting. Well, except for women. I don't want to get sued or anything… -_-'

I work in a really low stress environment to begin with, but I do have deadlines to worry about. I just handle it by not getting stressed in the first place. I've been accused of not caring about my work, but my attitude is just that there's no point in getting all worked up over it.

When it comes to my own business though, I stress a lot about getting things done on time and getting them to acceptable standards. I've found that short naps, loud upbeat music and switching between projects helps me. I've found that it's a lot easier to be more productive if I switch off on things before I get too burnt out on one project.

I used to read books, then they told me that I can't do that anymore, then I started doing random drawings, then my boss told me that I had to stop. After that I'd read Wikipedia and TV Tropes. My boss didn't like that too much either so I had to stop that too. Then I'd throw punches at bathroom walls on my break but that started scaring people. Now I just try to remain as emotionless as possible during work and get some booze after. Maybe this is why my comics always seem late…

Yo I know how you feel my old job was like that.I try to find ways to deal with the stress then they would tell me not to do it. Then it was like everything I did had to stop taking away from my happiness.

You boss doesn't like you doing ANYTHING that isn't making them money… this is a generalisation but your boss is the fucking DEVIL and it is your responsibility to destroy their happiness the same way that they destroy yours!

Go on… fuck with your employer (just don't get sacked)

I dunno. My boss allowed me to weld a pair of shackles with which to torment one of our register girls who wouldn't stay at her post. But that was just my section manager. I don't know what the owner thought of our shenanigans.

My work has a lot of chamomile tea lying around in the break room. i usually go for that.

I know that this tea is reputed to have calming properties, but in all actuality the mere act of standing around and sipping for ten minutes can make me feel a whole lot better about whatever it is that's pissing me off.

Listening to music helps too. Studies have shown that music will have a calming effect on a person as long as they're familiar with it. It doesn't matter if it's death metal or polka or a two hour recording of farm animals giving birth. As long as it's an old favorite it'll help you calm down.

If you have an hour-long break you can see your girl-or-boyfriend for a nooner. But, well, that one's pretty obvious.

Work doesn't stress me, but it does annoy and irritate me… That's a different thing, very different.

Mostly I just need coffee to stay away during it.

As far as stress goes, I had more of that working for myself. To deal with that I'd play stupid computer games and avoid what I was meant to do.

I'm not sure that work stresses me out too much. There are periods when things can get very aggravating or annoying- at those times I just need to walk away for a while and be on my own, or have someone trustworthy to vent at, for 10-15 minutes. Once it's out of my system I'm back to normal and ready to handle the problem.

Usually if I'm stressed out from work it's because too much needs to be done- and in those cases I just start working weekends and stuff. :]

coffeeeeeeeee…..

er.. um…

Coffee is a good way to get rid of stress sometimes. It doesn't help me stay awake, though (I've had more than one cup and I still slept for more than 10 hours).

At the moment I'm teaching 31 ten yr olds, and sometimes I get really annoyed and stressed at them. They're great kids but sometimes they just get worked up and they're really hard to control. When I get to the mega stress point I tell the class (or students one on one) that I'm at the end of my tether and I would really like it if they calmed down. That or I yell at them. Either works.
